The most expensive bottle ever sold was a 1787 Chateau Lafite formerly belonging to Thomas Jefferson which sold for £105,000. However, if you mean per vintage, which wine will sell at the highest price consistently compared to other wines of the same year, then the answer would be Chateau Petrus (Pomerol, Bordeaux). The 2005 vintage of Petrus is currently fetching upwards of £2000 per bottle.

Chateau d’Yquem Sauterne (1787) from France was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. It is the most expensive commercially available bottle of wine ranging in price from $56,000.00 - $64,000.00.

I don't quite know which is the MOST expensive, but the most expensive wine I've personally seen was yesterday on E-Bay - it cost just over $800!!
