Why do people see the same thing again, such as places they never been to?

well this is only my own theory but here goes; All sensory input goes through the sub-conscience mind before it gets filtered to the conscience mind, once the information reaches there your mind tries to form an understanding of the information through associating it with previous experiences stored in your brain. one of the experiences it finds while looking is the recent thought path created by it's trip through your sub-conscience which ends up leaving you with the feeling you have experienced it before

Because there are places that are very similar?! Or maybe they saw the place on television.
