Ford stereos are coded so you need to make sure the cd player has its code. The wiring will be the same so long as it is the same model focus. If you get a cd out of the very latest shape focus you haven't got a hope in hell.
In all honesty though it would probably be cheaper and easier to get an after market cd (JVC, Pioneer, Kenwood etc) with a fascia adaptor and a wiring adaptor

Ford usually fit items that cannot be fixed, and lately they are unique shapes as well, which means you're a bit shagged when it comes to replacing them BUT don't be of faint heart! You may have to get a new one (unless yours is under warranty), but go to a ICE specialist, and they'll advise, sell and fit one for you, according to your budget.

as long as the new player fits into the old players mount, there should be no problem
