I've had that exact problem. Couldn't get to the bottom of it so gave up in the end. Will be interested to hear what others have to say though because it's a right pain!

What brand of DVD player do you have? there are some brands of cheap DVD players that can be tempremental for seemingly no reason, where it can be the behaviour of the laser in conjunction with the way it processes the information on a disk. It can be unfortunate and very frustrating, I had the same problem with my cheap DVD player when I was at uni. That or there could have been a bad batch of the DVD made, you should check the manufacturer of the DVD and do a net search to see if anyone else is having problems particularly with Pirates of the Carribean in your ares. Sorry there's no simple solution, take care.

Its probably a data dvd that can only be played on the computer. Also some dvd players dont play pirate copies.

Don't bite me, but is it the right region for your DVD player? Are you sure you picked up a DVD rather than a cd rom.......
Maybe it's just a crappy batch. Get them to try it at the shop you bought it from.

usually these problems a hella frustrating because there is really no fast/easy/cheap solution.

best solution is watch on computer. second is rip the dvd onto computer than burn it on your own cd. third is change your dvd player.

Well clearly your DVD player is unsuited to pirates of DVDs, buy a cheap legal one - that should do it :D
