What do I do?
let her sit behind us?

Well if it is a date then the idea is that you get to know the guy, not have a friend there to visit with. I am sure the guy won't like your friend there. I don't think this has anything to do with your friends looks (that is her issue) but who would want to go and be a third wheel?
This is what I do on a first date (or use to do before i got married); I always drive myself and plan to have a friend call my cell about an hour or hour and a half into the date. If things are going well I just answer the phone and tell my friend that I am fine and all is going well and then laugh it off with the guy saying that my friend is just over protective and wanted to make sure that I was OK.
If the date is going bad (e.g. the guy is a jerk or I am feeling uncomfortable, etc.) then I excuse myself and say that I have to take the call. Then I muster up as much panic as I can and go back to my date and tell him that there was some kind of emergency and I have to go. I have a kid so that was always my excuse but it could be that your parents are mad and you need to go home or any number of things.
Also, always date in a public place! Especially on a date with a new guy. Don't let yourself be alone with him until you are comfortable.

sometimes guys feel you dont trust them if you bring along a third wheel but if you must dont do 2 rows behind then if she steps in the guy will feel really uncomfertable because there was someone watching the whole time generally a bad idea dont do it period

In my opinion is not a good idea to bring your best friend to this date because it may make the situation more awkward. If you really want your friend to come with you, she should bring a friend of her own.

Leave your friend at home. It is more likely to be awkward with her there. And isn't dating supposed to be about getting to know a person, not a person as she is with her best friend.

sure let her sit behind you, she just wants to help! if she's really a true friend then she won't do anything to embarrass you so it should be just fine.
