It depends how much money you are spending. I like Canon better anyway, but in the point and shoot category, there are Sony's worth owning.

In the DSLR range, do NOT buy the Sony compared to ANY Canon DSLR. They are just not "there" yet and Canon is excellent.

From personal experience i have always liked Kodak digital camras. They seem last a long time and give great picture quality. I have 1 now that is a C330 and i took it to disneyland. It worked great. It has 4megapixel and up to 5x zoom. Heres a website you can get one. Another great camra is Canon. They give amazing Megapixel. They go up to 7. Which is great picture. But has in use. I have never used them. Hope this helps

if you want to take photos of functions/events and not professional photos, then you can go in for even 1megapixel camera which costs around 4000/-INR. but if you are ready to pay around 8000/- you will have plenty of choices of cameras upto 5MP.
sony and nikon are far better in performance and features than kodak or canon. they even offers different picture modes and most important, video clips with sound.

I can't comment on those cameras. I do have personal experience with the Sony DSC-H2. I love it. Takes great pictures, 6 Megapixels, 12X optical zoom, image stabilizer; and comes with batteries + battery charger. You don't go through a lot of batteries with it either.

I would go with Canon if you need something easy to use and quick to learn. But, I love my Nikon D50!
