I woke up with a massive pain in my left leg from the knee down (ankle too) and I could hardly go back to sleep from the pain. Then I woke up again, only to notice that exactly the same pain same place but on my right leg (by this time my left leg was back to normal). Then I finally managed to go back to sleep, I woke up again, both legs ok, but the same type of pain appeared on my left arm from the elbow down, especially around my wrists. This time I was really worried and couldn't go to sleep not only because of the pain but the worry as well. Finally I managed to go to sleep and got up this morning for work without any pain anywhere, except for a headache! What's happened to me?

sounds like a muscle spasm or cramp, which could be caused by being cold eithier at night or during teh day, which causes you to (unconsciously) tense up. Then, when you sleep, you are relaxing and all the knots and aches that have built up then come out. It's interesting that it is in your extremities, the joints at the end of your limbs, whcih also get the coldest as heat is always conserved in teh centre of your body. So this may be a cause.
If it is only a one-off, then I wouldn't worry about it. But if it happens again, then I would make an appointment with your doctors.
Hope it doesn't happen again. Good luck

Text book symptoms of a potassium deficiency.
If you take any kind of diuretic or drink vast amounts of grapefruit juice or sweat a lot (from hard work or exercising)...that will do it.
Try supplementing your diet with the occasional banana or green pepper. You could take a tablet too. They are available over the counter at your local pharmacy or health food store.

First, you should really talk to your doctor about it. And if it happens again, you might want to go into the ER. You should really go see your doctor since pain is the body's way of saying something is wrong.

Your body might be overreacting to a nightmare you had that you don't remember, since you were alright in the morning. That's the only thing I can think of, but tell your doctor if it continues.

I'm not being glib or mean: For someone to answer your question of what's happened to you is far more than what anybody here could possibly tell you. Go see your doctor as a first step.

try sleeping in a proper bed. i find the floor gives me aches and pains. also the back garden and shop doorways. i find drinking heavily helps remove some of the pains.

I had this many years ago and it just never occurred again. Try not to go to your GP he will send you for tests and you will finish up with MRSA or both legs amputated. Of course, if it happens regularly you should consult him, it might be something serious, but I doubt it. Probably just one of those things that comes and goes.

there are a lot of answers to that but i think it's either a cramp from over-exertion (nightmare or something similar) or you have bad circulation.
get checked and stop worrying!
