I have suffered the same, but occasionally I do have a rare night when I sleep right through. The reason for me is amemia. I cannot keep my iron levels up and one of the symptoms is insomnia, even though I am exhausted. So do see a doctor and have blood tests to check this out because iron tablets or infusions may be all you need.
What I have found helpful are Melatonine tablets, look these up on the net for an explaination of why they may help you. Also I find it beneficial to get up the same time each morning, even if I am sleeping at that point, because if you wake up tired, you have more chance of sleeping tonight.

You have gone 10 years and you haven't seen a doctor about this? If you are past 40, it is a common thing. It could be stress or any number of things. Don't have any caffeine after 6pm.
Don't take naps during the day. Get on a regular schedule of going to sleep and waking up (7 days a wk)
