I have a stopover in Seoul, South Korea in 2 weeks time on my way back to England. I shall be there alone for 24 hours. Is it safe to venture out alone or should I stay holed up in my room. Are there any internet cafes?

there is free internet in the airport actually... if you go to korea airline's waiting lounge area. Also, most large hotels have internet these days. I think it is safe to wonder around a little bit... just be smart and stay in the good areas.

Seoul is pretty safe, but you will more than likely be in Incheon not Seoul. Not sure about Incheon as other than the airport I haven't seen any of it. You could probably see a fair bit in 24 hours though if you wanted to, so why waste your time in the hotel, and get out and see a bit of the city.

Yeah, Seoul is a pretty safe place and there are tons of internet cafes. They're called PC bongs(rooms), and they're mostly used for gaming (playing starcraft is actually a profession here, seriously :l ). There are bars everywhere, and a few cultural spots to check out in the city too, such as the palaces.

korea is a great country. of course you should go out and seek the world. it is safe and there are plenty of things to do! and the pc rooms are only a dollar/chunwon for an hour. and i think most of the hotels, airports and cafes have wifi. korea internet is the fastet youll ever find!

I don't know, cos 'They' cancelled my year long trip to Seoul at the last minute :(
That said, I've got a couple of friends who worked out there for years, and one of them married a Korean lady, well, anyways, none of them have mention it not being safe. One thing I know is that you have to be careful about getting in to taxis - make sure they are official ones :)
Enjoy it! And don't buy Vodka - very expensive!

Why would it be any more dangerous there than any where else?
The Koreans are very polite people and you will be fine.I would avoid internet cafes though. We all know what sort of wierdos use the internet, just look at this site for example.
Relax and enjoy yourself whilst taking sensible precautions.

Yeah it's not that bad, I'd suggest holing up in your room and catching up on some zeds. I've been there before. The breakfasts leave a lot to be desired though.

I'd stay in or least find someone who knows the ropes and can show you around. It's best to be safe. Good Luck!
