There is no fat in liquor but there is sugar and calories. I think there about 70-100 calories per one ounce of hard liquor. So, think of it this way. If you are having 8 drinks, then you are having 800 calories, TOO MUCH!
Drink less, and when you mix them with coke or pepsi, make it a diet coke or diet pepsi!

Ever hear of a Beer Belly? Ever wonder why there is Light Beer? It's because each alcoholic drink has between 100-150 calories.
Vodka or whisky drinks have about the same calories as a beer or wine of the same alcohol content, more if it is mixed large amounts of sugar laden fruit juices.
So yes, you can get fat from the alcohol, but if you are consuming so much that the alcohol alone is making you fat you probably have bigger problems ... alcoholism and liver damage for starters.

Sugar and fat are worse, but any amount of alcohol on a regular basis increases the pounds. Go for walks, dance, take bike rides and join a gym.
