Well, if you are looking for a nickname for yourself or a friend...try to pick out certain characteristics that are distinctive to that person.
For example:
My BF loves the outdoors, hunting, hiking, fishing, and camping...I gave him the nickname "Rugged"
I have a friend with the nickname "Easy", because everytime a question or situation arose that needed a solution and was difficult for most...she would always say "Oh that's easy" and fix it.
My uncle's nickname is "Blue" because his last name is Green and his son's nickname is "Bean" because his last name is Green (green-bean).
If someone likes music they could have nicknames like, melody, lyric, lala.
If they are a drama queen: Queenie, Princess, Diva
So, it all depends on the person and their characteristics that make them unique.
