The younger a child is, the more he/she exhibits "out of the box" thinking. Call it imagination, call it open-minded, whatever, in essence they don't have the experience (or assumptions) of an adult to be narrowminded. So sometimes you get undesired behavior that doesn't fit what we expect or call the norm, and other times you'll be totally amazed at the brilliance of a child that only comes from having minimal thought boundaries.
In childrens eyes, playtime is the #1 pastime by far. This play interaction with other children helps not only to establish social bonds but is also a good way to accelerate their own growth by learning from their peers. Family is seen as a welcome diversion from play, acting as an essential day/night cycle much like sleeping and being awake. Children don't really think much about "life" as we call it, my opinion is thinking about "life" is an adult worry thing. Thats why most of us would rather forget about "life" and just be a kid again =)

I'm 12, but when I was young... Hmm, they get jealous very easily. I read about how they did this test on a lady and her baby to find out if babies had emotions at all. Obviously they found out that they did... Very much so. And, babies can distinguish a picture of their mother in seconds, even when it's all scrambled up. Children copy as much as little monkeys. If they see someone with a cigarette and they look happy, their little mind will subconciously get ideas about smoking. This is why we teach kids about drugs early on. Plus (and I admire this a lot), even if they barely know another kid, they'll say "Hey, wanna go play outside?" and the other kid'll be like "OK!!!" If I said to one of my friends, "Hey, wanna play?" they'd say something along the lines of "Ewww, that puts bad pictures in my head" or "Yuck, no way!" Kids are really observant. It's a shame that they can't speak as clearly. If they could, they'd say interesting things.... They still do, just in slurs.

There are stages, actually. Sometimes my kids will observe something so purely and so simply, it is actually profound, and I am humbled in their presence. They find the joy in life, family, and play. The time when they are less self-aware and are just content to "be" is a time to be envied. They realize they are part of a whole, not just an individual. Then they turn 2 and "me" creeps into their psyche. They still have innocence about the world around them, but they do begin to organize the world around themselves as an individual.
Talking to kids is something we should all do more often.

Children believe they're the center of the universe, so everything relates directly to them.
Their imaginations are alive and vibrant. We've forgotten about ours.
As Keith Johnstone once said, children aren't small adults, adults are atrophied children.

Alot better then most adults i can tell you that much.
They are open minded soles. They don't know about predjutice and hatred. There minds are like sponges and absorb everything they see. Something that adults tend to stop doing do to lazyness.
Play is in everything they do.
They are uncorupted by society, they are pure and inocent.

They're not on one mind set like adults are...they are more imaginative, creative, and free-spirited, not knowing of the world's evils...I think all good things come from children...such as ideas on life and their believings...gives a real insight into free spiritedness and openness. :-)

In infancy it is entirely sensual.
Then it becomes visual combined with sensual.
Then it is repititon parroting of what they see.
Then verbal is added.
eventually conseptual thought
then creative or imaginitive
Then they recieve education and begin thinking in what we view as a more adult way.
