can we use microwave proof plates as a substitute for cookie sheets?

Not for the oven. Try just using a sheet of aluminum foil. Heavy Duty is the best but, the regular foil is just as good. Pull a long enough piece out so it can be folded in 1/2 or fold it more, if you need to make it sturdy-er(thicker). Wa-la!!...a cookie sheet. I have done it myself before, many times. Good luck.

For the microwave yes - oven no.
