Just wondering if your doctor has taken a hormone level test or not, cramps like this are not normal, if you wish to give it a try, at the health food store look for an herb called Wild Yam, which will help regulate prolactin which is one of the causes of cramps and other problems.
It takes a few day's for this to start to work effects are cumulative, I would try 1000 mgms a day, and see how it effects the cramps and increase the amount you take as needed till you find the right balance. I would add to that, Vitex / Chasteberry , again start with a 1000 mgs a day, try to take at the same time every day. Cramp bark tea when you are having cramps can help you to some degree too, but the herbs should help to relieve the cramps before your period begins. Fennugreek helps to balance lutenizing hormone, which is another cause of cramping. 500 mgs a day...you should see some improvement in less than two weeks, keep taking the suppliments it does take time to build in your system and restore a balance to everything.
Good Luck and hope this helps.

If you are experiencing Severe Menstral cramping during your periods, then taking narcotic type pain relievers is the only thing that will help. Why are you so against taking pain meds? They are for that very purpose and you do not have to worry about addiction, especially since you'll only need them a few times a month. Because of the level of pain you are having, I think you have endometriosis. This is a very common cause in women with severe cramping. And if you do have this disease, then you need to see a doctor and begin some type of treatment plan. Endometriosis will also cause heavy bleeding, with blood clots, pain with intercourse, and pain during ovulation. Severe menstral cramping is not normal!

Do you have something against the pill? I started it and WHAM! no more period problems. no cramps, barely any bloating, they are shorter and lighter, and i feel NORMAL during my periods now. Hot cammomile tea is my other thing. midol helps, heat helps, Vitamins help, but only short term. if you want relief month to month, then the pill is a very good idea

Ibuprofen will help inhibit prostaglandins, which cause cramps.
But cramps these severe are not normal. Go to your doctor as soon as you can.
