a yeast infection wouldn't cause pain while urinating unless it was prolonged. it's most likely a UTI (urinary tract infection). Cranberry juice will help, but it won't magically cure it. Generally cranberry supplements just help prevent more from occuring. You need to see a doctor and get on antibiotics. My friend ignored hers and she ended up in the hospital on IVs because it spread to her kidney. Go soon.

If it is a UTI, drink as much water as you can stomach, and start taking cranberry supplements. It won't go away on its own- it will only get worse. In extreme cases, the infection can spread. I had a really bad one a few months ago- I ended up in the hospital because my urethra was so infected it had cracked, and I was peeing blood and trying to pass blood clots. Go to a doctor, ASAP!

You may want to get tested for stds, too. Some STD's make peeing painful. Either way, don't wait- go get checked out. It will only get worse, either way. This isn't the sort of thing that goes away on its own.

Just a tip for prevention of UTI's.. If you're sexually active, always pee after you have sex. Fluids can be pushed inside during sex, and the bacteria is what causes the infection.

Because you have an infection. Drink lots of cranberry juice. That usually clears up any urinary infections. Or it could be a yeast infection if you're female, and should see a doctor.
