Hi! Two questions. First, I applied for a Citibank mtvU credit card for college students, having never had a credit card before, and got an email a couple days later asking for a copy of my student ID, tuition bill paid, phone bill, and utility bill, and if the phone bill isn't in my name, then a bank statement in my name/address. The first two I can do, no problem, but the phone bill and utility bill I can't because I live on campus and don't own a phone. I could technically ask my mom for those, but I would rather avoid a fight if I ca.

So one: Do you think I can just send in my bank statement with my name/address right (and the first two) or must I somehow do something about the phone and utility bill.

Two: they said if they don't receive it within 30 days, the application will be considered withdrawn. If I just let it go, would having applied hurt my credit score (and would the withdrawn be seen as a rejection)? And if so, should I apply for a different one soon after?

How do I show them I'm employed?

They are just looking for signs of financial responsibility since you are not currently employed. Closing the application will not effect your credit rating. Multiple checks on your credit rating will though, so don't apply to too many of them. If you are a full time student, one is probably all you can handle right now anyway.

Send a copy of your ID, tuition bill - you can get a copy at the bursers office, and bank statement. Enclose a note stating you do not have a phone or utilities as you live on campus housing.
I think that is all they need.
Now you said you want to avoid a fight. Does your mom not want you to get a credit card? If so, then do not put a small credit card above your moms wishes, it is not worth it.
If you are a responsible person, then you should have a discussion with your mom and see if she approves. But do not stick her with the bill or you will hear I told you so for the next 10 years.
My opinion is that the expansion of credit to college students is a bad thing, so that being said if you don't need it, you can wait until your Junior of Senior year.

enable me wager... you purchased the letter that suggested something to the music that they are elevating the APR on your credit card and interior the subsequent sentence they insured you that this action has not something to do with your credit or charge historic previous. it fairly is precisely what they propose. they're doing it because of the fact they might accomplish that for no obvious reason. (a minimum of until February 2010). After that they might nevertheless do it yet you have 30 days to choose out, close the account and pay off the steadiness under your previous APR. you purely don't have a credit card account anymore... Mine despatched out the letter asserting there heavily isn't any further overdraft fee expenses on cc money owed in the event that they permit the overdraft yet on the comparable token they're increasing the APR. which does not propose a lot to me because of the fact i do certainly not run my card previous the ten% shrink and that i not often carry a stability. purely simply by this i assume that this letter is going to every person. And on your case it does have implications yet they don't verify out the guy money owed. next time... stick it to the hospitals... and enable them to purpose and assemble on scientific costs that are coated by technique of insurance companies. do not positioned it on your credit card yet deliver the wellbeing center $20 a month and get it in writing that they settle for a charge plan.
