For example, do theists (yes that is most of you) think that notion that the next cognizant beings may be currently a bacteria living in a star fishes’ digestive system is a ludicrous idea? That those bacteria will learn from the regenerative properties of its host and eventually rule the solar system?

Whether it is a bacteria in a digestive system or a dolphin... the question remains the same...

Ya dude, the idea of us humans being somehow above the rest of the world (or universe) is completely egocentric. Where is the proof that we are above a lion? The lion could easily kill us, and we, as God created us, could only die defenseless.

to answer the first part, in many ways yes.
that this is the only way to salvation and you must think and believe like me - or else! perhaps. not the intention but the effect? most people are sincere and want the best for everyone (with a few exceptions).
maybe it's not true conceit but a misunderstanding of life.
sorry can't touch the last part.

Ummmm you're twisted a bit.
My religion doesn't promote consceitedness, but humility and tolerance.
Before you jump on humility, I offer my adopted definition: "To recognize one's strengths and weaknesses, and to strive to strengthen the former and transform the latter." Personally, I think that's a fine enough definition for theists and atheists.
Anyway, I don't condemn religious or areligious folk. I don't like the conceited sort of rhetoric that you used to ask this somewhat lame question.

Absolutely, pride and self righteousness are the foundation of religion - man's religion that is.
But God's religion excludes it, because it declares all guilty and deserving of Hell, but forgiven by the grace of God in the blood atonement of Christ.
As Paul says, "But may it never be that i should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world" (Galatians 6:14)
