How long can I go on wishing people a Happy New Year, until February?

In Scotland we tend to do it til the end of the first week or part week back at work, thereafter it's generally business as usual. As we get a public holiday on the 1st and 2nd, the 9th, then, I guess, must be the latest. There's nothing written down about this, it just seems to be the way it's done.

I feel if you have not seen this person since last year you can do it as long as you want. I would not do it after the week of the New Years a friendly greeting is always nice.

Until the 'New-Year' is an 'Old-Year',..... when the current-year is over. LOL
