You back up the truck and the wheels just melt right off !

All kidding aside....

A volcano is only a big furnace , that sometimes goes boom.
It would only burn the garbage not disintegrate it !

Understand the difference?

By burning the garbage we only turn it to ash and fumes that will leave the volcano one way or another and once again pollute our sky's and oceans and land. Which is what we do now anyhow with our poluting incinerators and dumps.
We would bennifit possibly by lower energy consumption as volcanos run on free power, but for sure Volcano Sanitation Corp. would find a way to turn that saving to their benefit rather than societies.

Now, non- poluting disintegration as I pose was possibly your desired goal ? That would require scientific knowlege and technology that we presently do not posess. Disintegration would be the dismantaling of the very natual laws of the universe as found in matter itself to the end of matter simply ceasing to exist.
The all popular " Poof " and it's gone like on so many sci fi shows and cartoons!
Well.... currently that is still sci-fi territory, not realised science.
Possibly someday we will see the technology for such....and that will be quite an interesting day !

Last but not leist.... the true solution to garbage....
I have long thunk and thunk on this one and most proudly anounce that I finally got it all figured out !

Hold onto your hats because this is oh so simple and yet so very powerfull !

First we must take an honest LOOK at the true origin of said garbage.

Where does garbage come from exactly ?

3. stuff in your home or business or industry

and where does THAT stuff come from?

2. manufacturing, mining, drilling, farming, etc.

So where should that stuff go when we don't need or want it any more?

1. the persons, corporations, and legal entities that produced it in the first place !

Sounds to darn simple doesn't it, well don't dismantle the waste management industry just yet !

First, the ones responsible for the paper and plastic packaging that you toss away on a daily basis have gotten a free ride for a good long time now. When you see a monster garbage dump on TV or smell that foul oder coming from the incineration plant ... well thats just society at large saying " We don't need or want it, take it away so ' We ' don't have to worry about dealing with what to do with it " which is just fine if your a cute little kid handing a tissue to mommy. But filling up perfectly good and usefull land with millions of tons of discarded stuff because everyone is out to lunch on just exactly what this stuff is and where it belongs is a tad irrisponsible, don't you think?

So first

Garbage : it's just STUFF ( though largly stinky ugly foul and possably toxic ) and it ALL came from somewhere.

Second

Instead of throwing it all together in a bag, on the side walk, in dumpsters, trucks, dumps, incinerators etc., and now possibly volcanos, like a bunch of hurried children shoving disjointed toys clothes and out dated homework under the bed because putting them all back were they belong nice and neatly is so unbearingly long, difficult and realy cuts into play /game time, maybe we should find out where it all comes from and send it all back?

Hmmmm....starting to make a little sense ?

Follow this..... If we just, as individuals, stop throwing it out, and find were it came from, and put a stamp and address on it. Well eventually the manufacturers and miners and farmers etc. and all the persons and corps. and LLC's and legal and even not so legal entities will have to finally own up to the bear facts. They are the origin, they are thierfore responsible for where it ends up.

A far cry from the status quo I know, but why stand here looking around, scratching our heads and going " gee where are we gonna put all this stuff? "

Send it back, just send it all back !

I'm fully aware of the monumental logistics involved in this proposed endevor but if this was you kids room you'd be standing over watching like a hawk making sure he got every last bit of stuff out from under the bed and what if they said " but mummy and daddy, can't I just burry this stuff in the corner of the back yard, or better yet burn it in the oven ? I'll write a letter of appology to the nieghbors for the smell waffing across the hood and explain we are using the latest technology to the benifit of all ". Yea, I didn't think so.

So why don't we step up to the plate, grow out of our school clothes, and take some responsability.

Send it back, and as it starts to flood in the corps and entities and individuals will surely throw it out, but keep sending it, and eventully when it becomes to expensive ( if for no other sensible reason ) for them to do so they will find something better to do with it, and start to produce things easyer to destroy and recycle and reuse and dismantel to send back them selves.

The ideal end phenomina would be a clean smooth running society where stuff is made/reaped, distributed and eventually returned full circle , and people will learn in thier history classes how once people were so base as to discard unwanted stuff haphazzardly through out the land and sea by throwing it all together and out, no matter of what origin or nature and burying, dumping it or worst yet, burning it so as to rise up as a toxic potion of unknown quality and quantity only to enter our lungs and water/food supply as bits of chemicals and ash.

Volcanos are a great Idea.

But I humbly propose the latter.

Thanks !

Unfortunately all of the garbage burned at once would make it stink too :p. The other thing is that acid would be adverse to the environment because of the fumes that idea is actually a little more reasonable but gathering up that much acid would cost some serious money. Also, putting all the grabage in volcanoes could cause fumes to make the volcano erupt by building up pressure. This is a good idea and your head is in the right place just that the idea has been thought of its just dangerous. Soon we'll start shooting it to the moon ;).

Volcanoes spew stuff out. What we dump in would get spread around. Even if we could get all the garbage to the few volcanoes that are active and dumping it did any good, we have to contend with the fact that volcanoes are very unpredictable. Just when you get the infrastructure set up to ship garbage the the darn volcano will decide to go dormant for the next 1000 years and no way to get it going sooner. You just cant trust volcanoes to do what you want them to.

1. Volcanos aren't dangerous enough already?
2. How do you get the garbage there?
3. How do you survive throwing it in?

Who says we can't?
I think that the world's powers can and SHOULD do that since they are the greatest polluters.
The rest of the world... They can as well if they can afford the logistics expenses.
The countries near the volcanoes SHOULD do that.
It wouldn't make a bigger difference to the toxic air released.

Wow! You really do think outside the box!

Hmm...we can but how do we do it? You see, the logistics is the problem.

The garbageman takes the trash to the harbor and then dumbs it on the ship and then the ship takes it to the nearest volcano. Blah blah blah...it just can't be done.

Thanks for asking!

All of it would burn the second it hit lava releasing all sorts of wonderful toxic chemicals into the air. Logically you could achieve the same effect 1000x cheaper by simply burning your garbage.

That's a very interesting point...I really like it....the garbage men will hate it though....

Or...bales of trash dumped in by helicopters....this is a good weed conversation!!!

This got me jumped off my seat! lol! Good idea but doing so will be very dangerous. Come to think of it, getting near the pit of fire has gotta be really hot.

Wow! very very interesting theory! But then we have to worry about toxic fumes from the world's largest incinerator.
