The healthy form of fear is fearing God. We fear to displease him because we love him. And even though we sin because we are imperfect, it is restraining ourselves from 'practicing sin' because that can cause harm to ourselves and others. Prayer and our Bibles are our greatest resources because they can help us to strengthen our commitment to try to do what's right as written in scripture. No we are not and should not feel self-righteous as Christians, because as the scriptures say: "We all fall short of the glory of God" and "There is not one man who does not sin". But as Christians we make our choice to believe in the way we see fit. Everyone has a choice to believe in what they think. We choose Christ.
And I don't believe in hellfire torment either. Fire being symbolic of complete destruction. It is either life or death.

How can you possibly be that naive Faith is not fear. You get up in the morning and roll out of bed and stand on the floor, you don't look down to see if the floor is there for you to stand on you have faith that it is there without seeing it, our faith in God is no different than that. We don't have to see God to know he is there we have Faith that he is there, so many people say there is no God because the world is a bad place and bad things happen and how if there was a God could he let these things happen but God does not have dominion over the earth right now Satan does God gave it to him to rule when he threw him onto the earth and he is doing a fine job collecting the souls that he will take to hell with him on judgment day , you see you cannot take away from what I believe and you can laugh at me and call me crazy but Jesus said I would be persecuted for his name sake so if that is what I must face to have my Faith then that is OK with me because Jesus paid for my sin with his blood and his life and that is the greatest gift of all and no one can take that away from me.God Bless you and Keep you

"It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Hebrews 10:31
It isn't about fear, but that is part of it. It is about God. And sir, God is Someone that will make you fall on your face like a dead man. Not because He is "scary." But if there is Someone Who was there before time existed, Who just spoke and things appeared out of nowhere, Who breathed life into the first human being....and then that human being turned around and spat in his Maker's face, and all the human beings after him prounced around on earth acting like big shots when they wouldn't even exist but for God and the earth wouldn't exist but for God....for one thing, that would be enough to make you tremble in your boots. Who do we think we are? And do we honestly think God will let all these people go on sneering at Him, denying He even exists, ridiculing Him, and acting like we're God and started the world spinning? I think there is plenty of reason for FEAR. To top it off, God killed His own Son as a blood sacrifice to satisfy His wrath over our rebellion. And what do ppl do? They use "Jesus" as a cuss word and keep on basically slapping God in the face? Sure, I have plenty of reason to fear a holy God who has appointed a Day of Judgment. We won't get away with our rebellion forever. God has provided the Way of hope and salvation and mercy--and as a Christian, I'm taking God up on His offer.

Fear of an all powerful , almighty God....is the beginning of wisdom. I hope you repent....if you dont, one day you will wish you had considered the truth you have seen and it will be to late. When you breathe your last breath, you will know.

My following Christ is motivated by Love - a love so great it's often hard for me to fathom - not fear.
Fear does not gain someone's sincere allegiance or heartfelt devotion. Love does.
That doesn't change my answer to your previous question though. Jesus did warn about hell because it is a reality that He came to save us from because He loves us.

Your problem may be about fear but my faith is about truth and sound judgement. Fear has nothing to do with it. Father God loves me and Jesus saved me, what do I have to fear?

Jesus talked more about hell than heaven. If Jesus is really about love, why is HELL talked about so much.?
I believe he did this to put fear into his followers in order to make them loyal to him & more apt to believe in his teachings. I'm not saying whether that was right or wrong~

I have nothing to fear anymore. "Perfect love casts out all fear" (I John 4:18)
Sometimes fear is based on ignorance.
Sometimes it's stupid not to fear.
What are you afraid of?

It is about control through fear. Paul liked that idea.
