According to the NAS, intelligent design is not science because it cannot be tested by the scientific method. Intelligent design does “not offer hypotheses that are subject to change in light of new data, new interpretations, or demonstrations of error.” Rather, the concept makes observable data inferior to doctrine. Intelligent design reverses the scientific process by setting forth an assumed conclusion — an intelligent designer is responsible for the universe — and only seeking evidence in support of this conclusion. In contrast, a scientific theory “always remains subject to the possibility of rejection or modification in light of new knowledge.”

Intelligent design is the inverse or antithesis of science. In other words there are large areas of evolution not able to be immediately explained yet the results that we see today are highly developed and intricate.
The idea is not to research and prove a fact or propose a theory as a basis of research but simply state "This is not prove-able or explainable by science ergo: intelligent design.
Or I don't know I don't understand therefore God. This is not a new religious argument.
Intelligent design is theology at best

No it is not.
A Boeing 747 shows evidence of intelligent design, but the point is that it has EVOLVED from earler forms of airplanes. It did not suddenly appear from nowhere.
J Dog - you need to learn what a scientific theory is. It does not mean the same as a theory in the normal sense of the word. For example, you can study electrical theory - that does not mean that electricity is just a theory.

Well .... er ... yeah, but the Bible says god created the earth, so science will .... er .... my pastor says that the scientists are dissing intelligent design because they want to put thier own theories ahead of god, so they aren't Christians and they are in trouble when they die.
So, the Bible must be good science, and if Intelligent Design means the Bible is right, then intelligent design is the only real science.... right? So we shuld teach that in schools.
I wonder how many ID folk have read "The Origin Of the Species"? Wouldn't you think that if you are going to dispute something that you might have read the text it was based on?
Oh... I forgot.... Darwin, along with Harry Potter and Dungeons and Dragons will twist your brain and make you go to hell.

Design, itself is an intelligent, creative process. How can one say, the result of a design process is not intelligent? Designing intelligent objects is a designing process like others. just with a different brief which results different.

I can see where your coming from. If we are to hold to a solid proven formula for establishing scientific fact, evolution is still also a theory, and the creation of earth whether you believe in Intelligent design, the Big Bang, or any other theory is still a theory. Lets be honest, people who believe in evolution may leave room to adjust their theory, but they also look for evidence to back their beliefs.

Intelligent Design is called Theology, a belief in God. It is a matter of faith. Maybe someday more will be supported by science but not at this time.

Science is so over my head.
Obviously evolution happened. There is evidence that we can see and touch.
What started it all? No one knows for sure, but it could have been a God.
