According to my college health class book, I am of average weight for my height.
But my problem is that it is mostly muscle (think Bruce Lee only somewhat bigger)and since we all know that a pound of muscle is the size of a baseball and a pound of fat is the size of a softball, I look athletic but SOMEWHAT skinny.
I work out and just burn calories, don't gain much weight. I eat junk food like crazy and still don't gain weight. Protein shakes, weight gainers, vitamins, testosterone pills, etc.
I have tried eating pasta, bread, etc. all the time. Still nothing. Started drinking 8 glasses of water a day only to find that I lost weight from that.
What do I do?? What do I eat? How much?!?!

if you keep yourself healthy and you're not suffering any effects from being "skinny" like lethargy...why would you want to eat junk, take steroids, drink weight gainers and all that crap to mess up your health just for a few pounds? That's kind of retarded logic. Opt for healthy but athletically thin rather than bulky with clogged arteries. Enjoy the fact that you can eat as much as you want and not gain weight...it won't always be that way....your system will change as you age.
But honestly, eat a LOT of veggies & fruit...drink a lot of water....keep your diet varied, colorful and fresh and you'll be way better off. You can indulge a LITTLE bit in some junk food...but don't make that your primary food....stay healthy!

Jamal,if you want to gain weight, have larger size helpings of food at meals and keep nutritious snacks readily available. Proteins are required for building muscles, so having high protein food like eggs, milk, peanut butter, protein shakes will help you in gaining weight. Starchy foods contain a lot of carbohydrates. 1)Avocados are high protein healthy & fattening.
2)Ice cream every eve watching tv before bedtime. I know a man who eats 1/2 of a half gallon everynight and he weighs about 400 pounds. I really think his weight gain is from the ice cream... also he eats daily a double cheeseburger/fries/mcflurry/3pack choc chip cookies and a soda. If he were exercising i dont think it would all be fat.

fast food can add up but at most stores junk foods always the cheapest, but if you eat all junk food you'll gain weight in a bad way so id suggest chicken and stuff like that.

You are probably perfectly normal and healthy. Don't cause yourself more grief with one gimmick after another.
Accept yourself for who you are. No one is perfect. If you are comparing yourself to the rich and famous you'll find lots of anorexia, steroid use, implants and tons of airbrushing.
I am still "underweight" according to all the charts and graphs and people still say, "my god, don't you ever eat...blah, blah, blah..." I am naturally thin and the world still treats me like there is something wrong with me!
Don't worry kid, it's not you that's screwed up, it's definitely the rest of the world.

Your metabolism is very high. You can try to eat more protien. ex: 1 pound lean hamburgers you grill yourself. Eat more meats, less carbs. I heard about high school linebackers that eat 5 pounds of meat per day.
but keep down with the junkfood ex pizza, chips. this diet is hard enough on your system

A few good old fashioned twinkies should do the job (and at a reasonable cost). Pick up a few 2 liter bottles of Vanilla Cherry Coke to wash them down. Stop by McDonald's and pick up a chocolate shake or 3 (Large). Good Luck?

NUTS!!!
Peanuts, cashews, walnuts, almonds, hazlenuts..nuts of all kinds! They are high in calories, but are full of the "good fats" rather than the bad kind you can find in junk food. Avocadoes are also good, and try adding a little olive oil to the food you cook --it's healthy too.
:-)
Good luck!
