Possible cause of loud noise upon TV starting?

It's a loud "wonk" noise, doesn't seem to affect the TV's performance.

Yep, Sony! I think it's a 42"?? Not quite a flat-panel, but the slimline standard version.

do you have a sony?
my sony does that noise and I was told by my cousin that sells them that this is normal for them.
my set is 4 years old and has done it from new
