Try giving her laxatives again. If that don't work, get a suppository. If she can't stick it in, you will have too. Most work in about 30-45 minutes. If she still doesn't have one, then yes. Take her to the doctor. The ER isn't necessary and it could cost you more. Waiting till the doctor (any doctor) gets to the office would be best.

But try the suppositories first. If you are not sure where they go, they go in the rectum. E-mail me if you need more information. I am a medical professional.

Consider whats hr regular frequency. How much/what has she consumed the last two days? This is important considering seniors have major issue with malnutrition? Can you feel any mass in her abdomen, is it tender? You may want to try an oil retention enema - which is a oil based enema that would be administered to soften the stoolI via the rectum. If she is impacted that severe it may require a manual removal of the feces. Drink lots of water and if still impacted go to the hospital.

Two days is not long; some people only go every 4 or 5 days although I don't this is particularly healthy. Between one and four magnesium tablets usually do the trick in our household and have no side effects. However, if you fear an intestinal blockage, by all means, rush her to the E.R. They can either help or reassure you that there is no problem. Don't let them give her any Tylenol, however, or similar medication, which only makes the condition worse. The E.R. people seem to love passing out these pills even when there is a strong counter-indication.

Call her doctor. Is she in pain? If so just take her to the ER. A blocked intestine can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome (This is what killed the little girl from the Poltergiest movies)

Definately give her lots of water and take her to the doctor. Has she eaten? If she hasn't eaten anything then there's nothing to push out.
