My dad recently had a stroke and it was not discovered on the first CT scan. A week later he was admitted into the hospital again because of his symptoms and it was discovered that he in fact had a stroke. The doctors say his Internal Carotid Artery is 100% completely damaged. Is this life threatening? I need some answers becuase I am sick of all the doctors wispering when i dont know whats going on. Im 21 years old and terrified for my fathers life. Someone please help me. Any knowledgeable feedback at all is GREATLY appreciated. Pray for my father. Thank you.

MY mothers carotid artery was blocked and she had surgery to repair it. she is fine now. The carotid artery is vital you need to ask the Dr's about repairing it, they can insert a Teflon tube to replace it.

if it is truly 100% blocked, I am sorry to tell you that is not good.

The carotid artery is the main carrier of oxgyen and blood to the brain. Without a sufficient air supply being provided, a full recovery is doubtful.

Try to make sure he is comfortable as possible and get a second opinion from a specialist.

I'm sorry...

It is life threatening, but the artery can be reconstructing in many cases. You will need a specialist in this area, so get the best you can afford.

If caught in time, these can be repaired. It is a very, very serious condition. But your father is lucky he is under medical care and supervision. Many people that have this occur, do not know and it is too late to save them.

100% damaged is never good. Especially with the heart. Good luck and I hope your father has a full recovery.
