I would see a doctor. My one friend this happend to had a parasite inside her and she dropped way way down. Espeically if you are older there is no way you should be dropping like that unless you are training hard and eating right, which you didnt mention and obviously wouldnt be worried about it if you were, good luck. please get to a doctor it might be serious!

You have lost 42 pounds in 6 months, and you did it without even trying? Most people would say that is a wonderful acomplishment! But, are you sick? Are you feeling drousy? Weak? Nausiated? Dizzy? Do your muscles hurt? Do you have dry mouth? More frequent urniating? Urine smelling different or fruity?
Perhaps you can go see your doctor and tell him your symptoms (if you have any). You could possibly have diabetes. Sometimes diabetes makes people lose weight. Sometimes it makes people gain weight. I don't even want to mention cancer. That is a horrible word :-(
Your thyroid could be on the blitz. Sometimes thyroid can make you lose weight instead of gain weight. Just go see your doctor, and be well.
But if you are not feeling sickly, or weak, or dizzy. then I don't see a problem with losing a bit of weight.

You may want to get your Thyroid checked. I just recently had a problem like that. I kept losing weight and I did not diet or exercise. I ended up going out to the hospital for a heart problem and found out that my Thyroid was the culprit and also why I lost the weight. When most people think of Thyroid, they think of gaining weight. This is not always the case. I would suggest that you go have a Thyroid screen done. Just ask your family doctor and tell him what you are experiencing. Hope this helps you. Good luck!!

Possible Thyroid problem. My nan had the same problem when she was about your ages, went stick thin within a year, from being a "cuddly" nan. It turned out she had either over active or under active tyroid, Can't remember which, one makes you thin the other makes you fat. I think she was treated with tablets easily enough.
Are you stressed about anything, or at that stage of like perhaps? You should see your doctor and voice your concerns, as you may think this weight lose is good at the moment, if it continues it could be a health risk.
Good luck.

Pauline, have you any other symptoms OTHER than losing weight. Have your bowel habits changed, do you have pain or discomfort anywhere? Anything that might suggest things are NOT as they should be.
I think you should get seen by your GP. He will do some blood tests etc and go from there. Losing 3 stone in six months is not good, so off to your GP ASAP.
Marcus.

Have you changed your eating habits? Or are you doing more exercise? Stressed? Change of job? If not then see your doctor so he can do some tests.
