1) Unless that non-Catholic is thinking about becoming a priest, why would they even care.

2) If they want to know out of pure curiosity, why don't they do a poll of the priests who voluntarily gave their life to be married to Christ's bride, the Church, and then find out the reasons that the Church gives for her teachings on priestly celibacy?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church gives very reasonable explanations for the questions that most people ask about the Catholic faith.

that made me wonder as well. i do believe that only Catholics who know the Church's Doctrines by heart have the right to explain about Catholicism and not just someone who observes from afar and conclude some things according to what he/she wants to understand.

It's their way of trying to poke holes in the Catholic faith. One verse in the Bible says that a priest / minister (forget the exact word) should be the husband of one wife, and comments that if a man can't run a household, how could he run a church.

People who quote this tend to ignore Paul's admonition that it is better not to marry. This apparent contradiction might say that it's better not to marry, but if you don't have the stamina, you might be a priest.

I guess that people forget that some personal beliefs of the original writers might have found their way into the Bible.

It's so we can better understand how the predicted apostacy of the early church came about. By understanding how the Catholic church adulterated the word of God we can better safeguard our hearts today to follow the word of God rather than man.

1 Tim 4:1-3

4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
NIV

Remember that until relatively recently the Catholic church restricted the type of foods a catholic could eat. They still forbid marriage of priests.

Pastor Billy says:

1. because some people are simple minded and trust in an authority of teaching within their own community without questioning the accuracy of what is told them.

2. because they are deliberately wanting to hear only what coincides with their own held bias which of course is a caricature. This is especially true for zealot-like anti-catholic communities still clinging to first Protestant confessions and professions which attempted to demonise the image of Catholicism via propaganda, slander and unproven accusation.

non catholics as myself question this cause it is not found in our scripture. IT IS EXPLAINED in the Apocipha(sorry if i misspelled it) in the book of Timothy or Tomas(one of the two) He preached it is better that a man of God not take a wife, so as to not be distracted from his calling

I am involved with ministry at my church and can confirm it got harder to stay focused on doings God's work once I was married and had a child. My focus turned to providing for my family even though I know that God will provide all my needs. I just need to seek Him and the rest will be added to me. Pray for those in ministry

Are you afraid the infallible teachings of the Catholic Church will be found at fault once again... or are you just as narrow minded and irresolute as the afore mentioned .what's the reason for lack of reason?
peace out

They obviously don't want the opinion from a Catholic. I don't see anything wrong with that. They are just interested in the opinions of other 'outsiders' since it would be less biased.

I don't think they are looking for the 'facts', just opinions.
