I... I just did a search on this question, to pass the time, and the questions and answers I read shocked me. I already knew that some polls had reported that 48-ish percent of Americans believed this, but I was under the impression that those people had no access to the internet or civilization.
Did I miss some big science and history lesson that disproved basically everything we've discovered and otherwise proven about the past?

Suppose I should clarify; I am aware of the footprints that run parallel, but I'm very skeptical of that. I'd sooner place faith in tested bones and paleontology research than in a possible coincidence in the mud. And if it is legimate, I'd still like definitive identification of what sort of "human" and "dinosaur" left the prints (I'm not contesting that not all things which can be called "dinosaur" went extinct when their era ended, since one could then simply refer to crocodiles, various fish, etc), as it still seems a bit off to me. What troubles me is that of this nearly half of our population that took the poll, I'm under the impression that they were thinking of "classic" dinosaurs when they believe in the coexistance.

And my apologies on the placement of this; it did not occur to me to check above the "Society and Culture" categories (I'm rather tired at the moment, and this is my first question on here), although the question does touch on many religious issues, and I would assume that the majority of the aformentioned ~48% are in that group for reasons of spiritual extension.

The only people who believe that dinosaurs and humans coexisted are delusional fundamentalist Christians who have to believe they coexisted in order to rationalize their belief in a Young Earth. It's simply propaganda, that's all.
The links below from Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas explain that so-called "Man Tracks" are nothing more than misidentified erosional markings that people claim to "see" as belonging to humans. Sometimes trick photography is used to exaggerate the resemblance to human footprints, as well. The scientific community has found no real evidence of humans coexisting with true dinosaurs, however.
In other words, in some cases the tracks have been faked, in other cases it's merely wishful thinking.
To jab12191: Is that the best argument you can come up with? How do we know humans and animals coexist? Because I have a cat sitting on my lap right at this very moment, for one thing. Ever been to a zoo? Ever been to a veterinarian's office? Ever been to a horse race or a dog show? Ever seen a squirrel in a tree or a bird in flight? Ever step into a pile of cow dung? There's TONS of evidence for the current coexistence of animals and humans, and all of it consistent.

I won't say that dinosaurs and humans coexited but we learn new and strange things once in a while as the following information indicates .
Coelacanth ('hollow spine' in Greek, coelia (κοιλιά) meaning hollow and acanthos (άκανθος) spine) IPA: [ˈsiːləˌkænθ] is the common name for an order of fish that includes the oldest living lineage of jawed fish known to date. The coelacanths, which are closely related to lungfishes, were believed to have been extinct since the end of the Cretaceous period, until a live specimen was found off the east coast of South Africa, off the Chalumna River in 1938. Since then, they have been found in the Comoros, Sulawesi (Indonesia), Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park in South Africa, and more recently, sister-species in Sulawesi (Indonesia), strikingly increasing the geographical distribution ascribed to this species. Instead of looking up statistics on who believes what....why don't you watch National Geographic, or the History Channel, or something. Or find a book on the neolithic era, or the age of the dinosaurs. Figure it out for yourself and stop worrying about what other people believe.

No any book can tell whether dinosaurs and humans coexisted. If at all , my theory is if those humans existed were not those created out of the likeness and image of God with a living God's breath into his nostri so that he became a living being according to the Bible. After all the dinosaurs were destroyed and a new world of orderliness began then humans in God's image were created and placed in the Garden of Eden.

There was at least 2 programs on National Geographic in 2006 that were about evidence that Dinosaurs and man co-exited. Guess 48ish percent of America watched this and the others where arguing on Q&A?

Actually, there's a dinosaur dig in Belle Rose, Texas that has dinosaur footprints with human footprints in and alongside them. I've seen them and it caused me to really re-consider whether humans and dinosaurs could have coexisted.

Because they don't read that kind of subjects . At least i want to believe that, because if not, i would have to believe in something worst.
There are all kind of information in the news paper, of course not in front page and with big letters.
