It's like a power strip, except with USB ports. You plug it into a USB port on the computer. It's a box that will expand your USB capabilities to about 8 ports. I want to buy one online, but I don't know what it's called. And also, what is the average price for one?

It's called a USB Hub. It comes in 4- or more port size; can be powered by the USB port on your computer or by external power; and costs anywhere from ten to about thirty bucks. Good luck.

I've got several of those. It's called a USB hub, most common version is 4 port, but I think you can also get 6-8 port versions. I've bought 4 port versions for as low as about $12-$14 bucks at a discount computer/electronics stores and they worked fine.
PLEASE BE AWARE: Do not buy a non-powered (passive)version, get one that comes with a seperate power supply. USB ports frequently supply power to devices that are plugged into them, why I even saw a coffee cup warmer plate that plugs into a USB port. The power supply on your computer may not be heavy enough to handle more than the two ports on the back of your machine let alone the three additional ports a four port hub will give you.
Incidently. I might add at this point that your computer may already come equipped with four ports. That is; two on the rear of the computer (USB 1 and 2), plus two on the mother board (USB 3 and 4). Sometimes a pigtail will connect these internal ports to a seperate pair of USB ports located on the front of the computer someplace. This still does not mean that your computer power supply is heavy enough to handle them all at the same time.
There is generally a note attached to a diagram of the motherboard pasted inside the computer someplace; side cover, bottom panel etc. that will give you this info. If unsure, DON'T DO IT!!!!!! You could possibly crash your power supply and the motherboard of your system. Take your computer to a computer electronics store and let them check it out. Good luck and best to you.
