Find friends who speak English well and who do not speak your own native language. This will force you to speak and practice your spoken English. If you are somewhere that does not have many English speakers, join an English club or something like that whose goal is to encourage English-speaking.
And I agree with the above user who recommended watching television. Watch television with people speaking in fluent, native English accents (whether British or North American) and listen to English radio or podcasts.

Read a lot of books. If its only an accent problem, then you should interact with people who are fluent in english. Thus getting you acustomed to the pronunciation of the word. Also you could go to classes if you want/ CD's available.
But hanging out with people with the accent is much better, but takes longer :(
