Perhaps she just doesn't want to embarass you in front of your friends. Either way, you should take the risk and come right out and ask her out. Then you will know definitively what the deal is.

That's odd, isn't it?

Depending on how well and how long you have known her, I'd confront her with it. Tell it to her about the same way you have expressed it here and say that you don't get it and you just want to know where you stand and where it is all going.

It's not likely that she will know how to answer you. In fact, she might get very uncomfortable and cut the conversation off. That's OK. Better that you transfer some discomfort to her than carry yours around all by yourself. Let her sort out why she is doing what she is doing. If she doesn't get back to you on it, you haven't lost anything very valuable. If she does, maybe something good will come from it.

Either way, you'll be better off than you are now. Just be kind, polite, and sensitive when you confront her. Then, let it go wherever it goes.

The question here would be if the two of you are in different cliques. More than likely, she does like you but her friends may talk about you in a negative way and she feels that they would put her down if she was to like you in anyway in the public eye so to speak. I was involved in a similar situation great friends outside of school did everything together, but around everyone else, we didn't know each other too well. Hard to deal with not being accepted and having the isolation of knowing someone so closely and having to act like you do not know them at all because of peer pressure.

Put the moose on the table. Tell her you like her and would like to see if you could be together. She'll either say yes (and you can try it), no (and at least you know), or maybe (yup, hit the highway my friend. Whatever she says, you've put the moose on the table, so if she keeps up the double-act it's pretty poor behaviour, and a shame you couldn't make something of it.

well the next time you go to her house and she wraps her arms around you....... tell her how you feel about her. and ask her if she feels the same. sometimes all you have to do is ask. maybe shes feeling the same thing and is waiting to you to say something to her. just come out and say it. and if it dont work out, theres 16 million other girls.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
