I'm a frequent visitor, and I'm IN LOVE with Giordano's, Hecky's, and Max and Erma's, but I'm always up for more recommendations. Price is no issue. I frequent Schaumburg, but location is no issue either.

I'm not looking for national chains, though. I want some holes in the walls and local chains.

Thanks!

Steak: Tavern on Rush or Hugo's Frog Bar (because you can get the steak from Gibson's plus seafood from Hugo's)

Pizza: Home Run Inn on 31st Street in the hood. Gino's East or Uno or Due as said by others. Eduardo's is also good.

Burger: This is also a chain, but Hamburber Mary's on Clark N of Foster makes good burgers. You can also get a good burger at any bar in Chicago who hand makes their burgers. Ask if the burgers are hand made or if they come out of a box. Order something else if they say they come out of a box.

Steak: Chicago Chop House is the best in the Chicagoland area. Everything in Schaumburg is a chain and of much less quality and character than anything in the city. Morton's, Smith & Wollensky, etc. are OK but they're all chains. Go to the Chop House. You won't regret it.
Pizza: If you want a true Chicago experience, go to either Gino's East or Uno's or Due's since they're the originals. If you're in Schaumburg, go to Lou Malnati's which is also great but not the same as the city experience.
Burger: Ditka's. Aside from great food, the environment is great and there's a chance Da Coach will be there walking around, too.

For *the best* Chicago deep dish pizza, go to Due's (downtown) Ohio and something. It's always a long wait, but worth it. Back on the '80's I met Scotty Pippen there. you could also try Uno's, too. Same owner, 1 block down the street. Uno's branched-out all over the country, but TRUST ME, it is NOT the same if you go to a branch. They basically just sold the name. The pizza is no where near the same recipe.

Regarding steak, Gibson's is a classic sterakhouse in the city. there are so many.

Burgers, your guess is as good as mine. I think, for a chain, that Smokey Bones has a really good burger.

Steak: Gibson's.

Pizza: Uno's or Gino's East for Deep Dish. Tomatohead for thin crust. And try Chicago Pizza on Lincoln for a unique personal pizza ball skillet.

Burger: It's a chain, but Johnny Rockets really is the best.

Also, if you want to taste true chicago style cuisine then you have to have a Chicago Hot Dog (the best in the world). I recommend Ira's in Northbrook.

Also, get a Chicago Italian Beef at Mr. Beef.

Max and Erma's IS a chain. For steak, try Wildfire (there is one in Schaumburg), Smith and Wollensky (an old stand-by), Shula's, Morton's, Lawry's, but the best is the Chicago Chop House (The Chop). For pizza, go fro Gino's East.

The absolute best steak in Chicago is:
Gene & Georgetti
500 North Franklin
Near North - Downtown Chicago (almost under the El tracks)

Best Burgers are at a bar called Blackies (they have two locations in the downtown area)

Best Pizza: Aurelllio's (mostly located in South Suburbs and Hammond Indiana)

For a great steak and/or seafood go to Morton's Steakhouse. I believe it's right off of Michigan on E. Wacker Pl. The service is great and the food is super delish!

Pizza - I like Gino's East for the atmosphere as well as the pizza and that's what counts. (Downtown location only)

As for burgers - I would go with Rosebud Steakhouse on Walton - yummmm! My mouth is watering right now!

Okay Lou Malnatis HANDS DOWN for Pizza! Even Bobby and Jamie Deen's (Paula'sBoys) rated it the best Pizza EVER. For steak, its Gibsons of course and for the best burgers umm not a big burger eater but probably O'Tooles.

Enjoy!

For Burger's, you might enjoy Ed Debevic's North Wells St. Be prepared to wait, but it is worth it.
For steaks, go to Harry Carey's on West Kinzie.
Uno pizza is good...
