Good question. I believe these thing traveled through the years by word of mouth then finally were written down by human beings. Alot of the rules in the bible were relevant in those times when they were written but just do not apply now for various reasons. One instance is becoming clean after handling pork, throughout history pork was very dangerous unhealthy the very reason Jews and Muslims do not eat pork to this day they follow the old rules that say pigs eat their own feces which they do along with anything in their way on that one topic I could go on forever. Use your best judgment on these type of things. For most important things I think most people will have a "feeling" of what is the right thing to do most of the time.

First off the seventh day of the week is not Sunday, its Saturday. The Sabbath is on Saturday. Slaves in Lev are actually "Bond Servants (not slaves)". If you have two or three witnesses that are completely blameless of cursing, then yes you (if your innocent of cursing) and the blameless witnesses can stone your neighbor. But only if you have never committed that sin before. Would you play with a football that was made of human flesh? I wouldn't. I would call that unclean and so are pigs and dogs, etc. You are complaining about a Jewish book to a bunch of Christians. You are addressing the question to the wrong people. If you would like to know some answers to your question, e-mail me and i will go into detail. It is not simple and I am not about to waste my time on someone who is just trying to tear down any and all forms of religious beliefs.

Because that is Old Testament. Later on in the Bible, that practice was outlawed. The teachings of Jesus Christ teach that we are to treat one another as we would be treated, and to love one another.
Jesus stated that the old laws of Moses were no more, so there is no more unclean food.
If the Bible is read in totality, not just taken from to suit one's purpose, then it reads as a history. Some of what is acceptable in the OT is no longer so in the NT.

Corona,
Every man has his or her own interpretation of the written word of God , which in most cases can be a hit or a miss depending on what has influenced them to study and show them self approved among one another creating conflict and religious hypocrisy, However mankind has its issues, but God is still God
in spite of what your concerns are. I want to share this simple fact,
Faith is not religion and I strongly suggest that you focus on your
relationship with the author and finisher of your faith, mankind is flawed and God made a provision for our error. But sin is sin
and every man seems right in his own eyes . Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness (not mankind) and he will
add unto you , remember the word of God says with love and kindness have he drawn thee. Hint: mans love walk is foul that
way the world has many religions, chaos, confusion, division, hatred and fear, but the power of agreement among
mankind has been a very dangerous tool in religious hypocrisy ,slavery, segregation etc. my point is learn about the nature of God and you will understand that so much that has been done mankind made a choice to do it. with the understanding that God allows good and evil we have to choose.

What do you think working at K-Mart for $7 an hour is. K-Mart was open on Thanksgiving day and made all the Newbees work.
What do you think co-signing on a loan for a car is.
What do you think a credit card is.
How much of a SLAVE are you. Can you quit your job and just go off on a motorcyle like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider.
How in debt are you. Does B of A, Chase and Capitalone own your life!

Great question!
The simple answer--for Christians, anyway--is that Jesus said he came to replace the old laws with new ones, and the new ones are simply these: 1. love God; and 2. love your neighbor as much as you love yourself.
So all those old rules and hatreds are obsolete.
Furthermore, Jesus never condemned homosexuality. and He made it clear we are to forgive all sinners.
Too many "Christians" prefer to forget what Jesus actually said in favor of the condemnations of the Old Testament.

I know you're supposed to respect the Sabbath (Sunday) and keep it holy, being a Christian, but in this day and age, some people are unable to pay the bills if they don't work every so often. I usually am angry when people start quoting and misreading scripture, but you seem to have a bit of knowledge about it and are encouraged. I agree with you.

Jesus fulfilled the prophesies and released us from the older system of laws. Christians follow the words of Christ.
Other themes added in since the time of Jesus came from Rome and then later through Platonic thought.
The people who run the churches decide for their congregations, which is why I don't go to church. I have a one on one relationship with God.
Another good reason for women to be Christian.

I don't believe the bible is the word of God. It has been grossly edited over the centuries. If you want to talk with God go within.
