My family just moved into a new housing complex with a members-only pool and jacuzzi, but the office hasn't given us a key to get through the pool gate. Me and my brother wanted to go swimming today so we climbed over the fence and started swimming. There was on old mean lady who was in there and she asked us why we cilmbed over, and we said we don't have our key yet. Then she left and a few minutes later, the manager of the housing complex came out and told us to leave. I said that we jsut moved in and that we don't have our key yet, and she still told us to leave because we "aren't allowed to climb over the fence". Is that ridiculous to you? Why are people so mean and bitter that they get joy out of kicking someone out of using a pool?

Sure we broke the rules, but under our circumstances and us being members and all, where is the love? What is the world coming to? Why are people so bitter and miserable that they care so much about what other people are doing? Sometimes I feel like people like joining members-only clubs simply because they like the exclusiveness and the idea of feeling special. A pool is used for swimming and personal enjoyment, and you go in one to have fun, not to worry about what someone else is doing and whether or not they should be in it.

Out of all of the world's problems, out of all the starving children, why is it that people don't have the love and sympathy to be happy to let someone use their pool. If I owned a pool, I'd let everyone swim in it, because it would make the world just a little better place to live in. What a selfish act to claim an entire pool to yourself just because you are a "member". I would be happy to have someone else come in and swim with me, then I'd have some company instead of being a stuck up lonely snob all by myself.

I asked my parents about their opinion, and they said they would have done the same thing as the old lady, and that they always report people who sneak in and swim at their exclusive "rich people resort". My parents are snobs. My dad said that he gets upset that he has to pay for a service that other people can take advantage of. I guess thats true, but why does he care so much. Does he pay to use the pool or to patrol it like a goddamn police officer? I feel like people walk around this planet thinking they are in constant competition with others, but in reality, we are all in it together and I think we should be helpful and kind to others and sympathetic to those less fortunate than us.

I agree with you completely. Remember though that some people have so little happiness in their lives that they bring themselves out by putting others down. I would never have told and I also would have made a point of welcoming you to the community. You are so right that life is far to precious to worry about such trivialities. The ironic thing is that someday that women may need your help, and I hope that you give it to her. This is the only way to show these bitter people a better way to live. You are better than that. When I was a little kid my family was very poor. My friends and I always went to swim at the apartment buildings because it was so hot and we didn't have the ten cents to get into the public pool. I don't recall anyone ever saying anything and I realize now that this was simple kindness on their part because us three ragamuffins obviously didn't belong there. Bless you and continue to focus on real problems instead of the ones that others create. Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.

It sounds as though everyone handled this situation a little rashly.
No. 1 - I would have taken the time to stop by the manager's office regarding the key, or asked someone to let me into the pool area. I am certain arrangements could be made other than "climbing the fence."
No. 2 - Yes, the lady was a little rash in reporting you, although you were members of the housing complex. But remember, you were new members of the complex, and almost uncertainly previously unknown to her.
No. 3 - The manager of the complex definitely acted rashly, especially when the manager would have been able to confirm that indeed you were new residents, and your lack of a key, caused by their delay, was the reason for the entire incident. I feel that more blame lays with the manager of the complex than with the "old mean lady."
Regarding your additional comments about the "exclusiveness" of such pools - they are paid for by members of the community through annual dues to the homeowner's association. And many (and it sounds as though the one you mention is among those many) are not patrolled by lifeguards, or have only limited hours during which a lifeguard is available, leaving members of the association to use the pool at their own risk at other times.
If someone not within the association were to use the pool and be harmed or drowned, then the pool would probably have to be closed due to the costs of legal action regarding the issue. However, homeowners in the community take responsibility by paying dues to the homeowner's association and agreeing to take reasonable steps to ensure that their children are suprvised when using the facilities.
Just some food for thought...

I think you went about it the wrong way. You should have checked in with the housing complex manager's office first, explained your situation (about not having been issued a key yet), and courteously asked the manager to let you in the pool area, or at least issue you a temporary key.
I think climbing over a fence is a public display of being a "scoff law" and it looks really tacky as well, it's like saying "to hell with rules, they're not made for me," so I would have to side with the management on this. And you can't blame that "old mean lady" - I mean, was she just supposed to take it on face value that you were who you said you were?? From her perspective, you could have just as easily been some intruders making up some BS story about not having gotten your key yet. I don't like mean old ladies either, but I think she had a right to be uncomfortable about unknown people climbing over a fence and using a pool/jacuzzi.
You sound young. I don't mean to preach, but you really need to look at things from other peoples' perspectives.
Good night, and good luck. Col. Kurtz.

This "old mean lady" you speak of could someday be the same "old nosey neighbor" who could save your house from being robbed, or maybe even your life.
She's just doing her job of protecting her best interests, which is her safety and security.
She didn't know who you were. You climbed over the fence which is considered trespassing. I suggest you wait to acquire a key and enter the pool area properly. You will win more friends that way, and perhaps stay out of spending a night in jail.

I know how you feel. Years ago, my then boyfriend paid for a motel room and we got kicked out of the motel's pool the next morning because the time limit was up.The woman even threatened to call the police if we didn't get out, lol. I thought that was a little mean and picky, but rules are rules. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Fences are used to maintain babies out so as that they don't drown on your pool. The black mesh fence is a low-priced decision. insurance companies won't insure your place until you have acceptable fencing around your pool. The fence top is an substantial ingredient and one needs to call their insurance business enterprise to confirm what variety of fence and top is needed so as that they are going to insure it. The black mesh fences that still go each and each of how as much as the roof so the pool section is easily incased are used to maintain bugs, birds, and and so on. out and it facilitates shop the pool sparkling which permits shop the maintenance expenditures down.

You broke the rules. It might have been smarter of you to go to the managers office and ask them for your key or if the manager would let you in if the key wasn't available as of yet.
