I can't convince you otherwise. Maybe you can convince yourself otherwise if you research "germs," whatever you mean by germs, but if you don't believe in them, I am not sure what can be done to combat that.
Maybe I could use as evidence the fact that many drugs are constructed to combat pathogens by very specific means. The drugs are continuously made and tend to work well enough to suggest that the model of disease as small invasive organisms has some merit. The blue in blue (or bleu if you prefer) cheese consists of bacteria and, if not, where did the blue come from?
I don't think that would do it for a true non-believer, but I suspect you believe in germs, Doctor Biobrain.

As others have stated you only need to look at a swab of anything under a microscope to see 'germs' - by which I presume you mean microorganisms. Whether germs are the principal cause of disease is an entirely different matter. Yes germs cause disease. You can isolate the bacteria/virus etc. in any patient but the real question is why doesn't everyone exposed to a certain contagion develop the same illness (and to the same degree). In order for a 'germ' to infect an individual they have to have an immune system that is not functioning optimally or be exposed to such a virulent organism that no immune system could cope. Our immune system can be weakened by many factors, including stress, toxins, poor diet, fatigue, emotional status, previous illness and auto immune diseases. Once we are immune compromised our natural immunity is weakened and hence a microorganism can infect and replicate within our bodies and cause disease. So to eliminate disease perhaps we need to address individual health more than invent new antibiotics/antivirals etc.

What? prez Bush? Is that you? Ok....there's a lot of physical evidence....this is much more tangible than global warming, so you should get this one quick - just get yourself a microscope and someone with an education (high school would be sufficient - maybe even jr. high) have them take some swabs around the white house (there's a lot of folk in and out so there should be a lot of germs sitting around on all sorts of surfaces). You'll see the little buggers squirming around under the microscope. Then maybe you can start a war on them. Or, you could just use the internets and look them up on The Google, I'm sure there's plenty of evidence available.

Belief in germs is not necessary. What you need to do is prove it to yourself. Supposing that you don't have access to a microscope or a microbiology class, but you live in a place that has a kitchen, then you might want to conduct an experiment, just to see. It will take a little work, but if it's important enough to post on this forum, then it's worth the effort, no? First, take a couple of empty jars of spaghetti sauce and wash them out really good. Then put them in a pot of boiling water and boil, lids off, for 10 minutes. Using tongs, take the hot jars out and put them upside down on a clean papertowel. When cooled a little bit, without touching the insides of the lids or the jars, screw the lids on. Until you are ready to put the contents below into them
Dip the blade of a sharp knife in the boiling water to sterilize too. Wash your hands with soap long enough to sing the Happy Birthday song, rinse, and dry on a clean paper towel.
Then take a piece of juicy fruit, like an apple, and peel it with the sterile knife; slice it into fourths. Put two of them into one of the jars, touching them with your hands as little as possible.
The other two pieces are treated differently. With one of them, rub the kitchen floor or the bathroom around the rim of the toilet seat or some other dirty spot. The other, rub it around the inside of your kitchen garbage can. You don't have to choose these places, you can pick any place you think is dirty to rub these fruit slices on. Have fun with it!
After that, put them into the other sterilzed jar and screw on the lid. Place both of the jars in a warm place, like on top of a cabinet or on top of the refrigerator or any place that is far from the cold floor. Germs like it warm to grow.
In a couple of days, go back to the jars. See which one has any funky kind of stuff growing on it. Those are germs.
Oh, and if you want to see if antibiotic creams work to kill germs, the next time you have a little scratch, on part of the scratch, wash the scratch and put antibiotic cream on it. On another part, don't do anything. See which heals better. Or if you pour hydrogen peroxide on a cut, the white bubbling is the peroxide killing the germs. If your put peroxide on a sterile surface, one that does not have any germs, like a freshly cleaned bathroom sink, nothing will happen because there aren't any germs to kill.
Science is just way too fun to ask anyone to just "believe." That's what makes science different from religion.

Germs are everywhere. If you want to look at them, grab a microscope and swab something. If you wonder if you have ever felt them, then try to remember if you have ever been sick. Being informed is a great thing to be, but by not believing in germs, then you are very uninformed or you chose to not believe fact when it is in front of your eyes.
You do not have to believe in germs if you chose not to, but they are real and they believe in you.

I have lupas, a friend has cronic fatuge syndrom and my husband has multiple sclerosis. maybe one week out of a month we will not have some kind of illness from a germ.... not a happy camper
