It is sad enough that so many innocent lives all over the occured country had to be sacrificed because of only a few of some idiot's doings.

I think it's more than a few.

Unfortunately, humans are highly competetive and guess what nature's way of settling disputes is?

Who ever said civilization was without war? "Civilization" is a subjective term, and it all depends. War is to some sad degree, endemic to the human condition. When someone is unable to achieve the desired result, most people accept this. Some, however, will persevere, until it is a "war of opinion", and if it continues, perhaps full war. On the other hand, when one acquiesces, war still might be the outcome. Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister of Great Britain before Churchill, let Hitler grab much of former German territory, effectively strengthening the burgeoning Nazi war machine. The truth is, outside of omnipotence, there is no way to know how some people will react to a decision, or how hard they will fight for/against it. Finally, if you are making an oblique reference to the current US position in the Iraq war, it must be remembered: 3,000 soldiers, while a tragedy, is a paltry sacrifice compared with other wars. Perhaps the reason we see the military sacrifice as so unbearable is because our view on human rights has undergone such a dramatic change in the 20th and 21st century; with racism, classism, and many social customs that were once seen as a positive good and a basis of society now seen as an absolute evil. "Civilization" is a term that is ridiculous to use as a justification for humanitarian behavior; civilization has also been the rallying cry of the crusades, of racism, and many other "evils". The point is, "civilization" is constantly in flux, and to just peg it as one thing ignores the pluralism and diversity of the world we live in, and yes, even among our "civilization"

Because of 9/11 we have to show the world that we won't back down from a fight. As for gunslingered, i'm an enlisted member of the Air Force and my job is a combat job. So i, unlike you sitting in front of your computer all day, might have to face the consequence of dying like a warrior just so i can protect yours and everybody else's lives and freedom. And obviously if you were making a connecting between the iraq war and star wars. your are really pathetic.

I guess it depends on your definition of the word civilized. To me civilized means you live in a house in a neighborhood with heat, hot water, electricity, food in the refrigerator, shower, toilet. An animal would be uncivilized. I have been to a lot of different countries and seen just what a uncivilized world this is. You ever see those save the children commercials. With the kids playing on the big mountain of trash or sleeping on the dirt floor of there house made out of scrap sheet metal. That is no joke. That is a lot of peoples reality.

I do agree with you. Its beacuase we are in a war with barbaric people and also we havent been able to evolve from fighting. So we would most likely stop wars when the whole world has learned that everything cant be solved by a bloody battle and its possible to talk it out.

You have your finger on one of the absurdities of this war in Iraq. Why in the hell are we over there getting ourselves blown up and shot full of holes. Even if we ultimately prevail, we have to leave because the Arabs and the Persians never forget a slight. They will be stabbing us in the back forever if we give them a chance.

It is a sign of over-heating or global-warming of civilization! Wait for the third world war which is imminent and not too far away and witness the repercussions if one is alive!

1) If you want peace, train for war
2) It does does not matter what you think of war, war endures

War doesn't occur naturally in nature. War is part of "civilization".

Who says our world is civilized. Being civil is relative. Take a closer look at the world around you. Personally I do not feel that any group (culturally, racially, etc) is any more or less "civil" than another
