You constantly cut your noses dispite your faces by trying to be logical about it. If you are useing a mental loop process such as
i. I know god exists because it written in a book
2. I know the writting in the book is true because the book says it true.
then why fool yourselves that you are still capable of logic?
Faith is believing without evidence.
Why not let go of trying to be logical about your belief when its just not possible and truely embrace your faith?

Would you be overly offended if I added a hearty "A-men.,"?
You are clear, concise, concerned, and connected. You should post this at least once a week. Beautiful!
I just finished a study of the Bible Prelude i.e. Gen. 1 -11 and its relationship to the Ugaritic Gilgamesh Epic. What a summary you give of that.

I think that those who try to rationalize it are often in a time where their faith might be a little shaky. I was very unsure about what I really believed when I was younger, but as I have gotten older I have grown and matured in my faith. I don't think that true faith means to just blindly and without cognition believe anything that a religious authority tells you. God even allows us to question Him and try to figure Him out, because he knows that the true faithful will end up right back with Him.
I also think that sometimes people try to rationalize God's existence for the same reason that we watch shows like LOST... it's a great mystery that is fun to think about. He gave us cognition and free will, and we use them to try solve the mysteries of the world. Some people ask questions and come up with answers that do not include God, and that becomes their own personal truth. Others ask and answer with God every time. Curiosity is just a part of growing and developing as a human, and as an individual.

Pardon me, but nonsense. The logical aspect of my personal belief is based on all the supporting evidence I've studied. The existence of God and the accuracy and validity of The Holy Bible are overwhelmingly supported by the evidence. The hypothesis of evolution is based on conjecture, bias and wishful thinking. The biggest support for God and the Bible is Israel as a nation, the Jews and numerous other fulfilled prophecies. True science also overwhelmingly supports the Bible. One only need study ALL of the available evidence with an open mind to see this is true.

When a Christian and read a book of Dawkin's God Delusion you will certainly draw up some logic to defend the existence of God.
The main reason why Christian apologists defend the existence of God by logic and philosophy is that atheists are keep attacking Christianity as a mere illusion. A lot of strawman version of Christianity exists and I counted Richard Dawkin's version as number 1.
Which book you are speaking of? The Bible? That alone is not a proof used by Christian apologists, because there is not one verse in the bible that prove the existence of God. It assumes that a reader already believe His existence.

The asker is quite foolish to say "Faith is believing without evidence" NOT IN A JEWISH concept of faith. You are merely understanding the today's english word "faith". Faith in Christianity God is very certain based on historical facts. Almost all scholars will agree that Jesus existed in history. Jesus was viewed as God in the flesh because of his claims. Jesus existed in history therefore God exists. You are free and can start your rebuttal against God's existence by trying to review the works of William Lane Craig and other prominent Christian thinkers. All of these strawman arguments against the Christian God comes from the people who don't read the works of Christian thinkers.

...Many of us come up with these answers because skeptics ask them.
...You say "faith is believing without evidence". In Hebrews 11:1 -6 and 11:6" we read:
...1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
...2 For by it the men of old gained approval.
...3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
...6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
...Finally, nowhere in Scripture does God promise us an answer for every question, and He does not owe us any. He is infinite and we are finite - the finite cannot comprehend much of the infinite God. God is not required to bend to our "logic", nor does He promise to bend to our logic - without faith you cannot please Him, period. We are morally responsible to God, not vice-versa.

I'm sorry but you have that all wrong the problem is they have dug themselves so deep into a pit of fantasy that logic is out of reason. there is no longer any point in trying logic with them. We just have to work with the youth. They are still susceptible to logic truth and reason. If we can get them before you pull them down in the pit with you. OO

Actually Faith for me is real, I have a long story but I have seen God work in many ways in my life. I don't rationalize his existence I just know he is there.

I guess it all depends on the Christian you are talking to. God does exist. One day will come when at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord May God bless U.
