You know Leo, we're all part of it. Man is a part of nature. Who are we to say this temperature differential isn't all part of nature's plan...and perhaps necessary for the survival of our species? Scientists have always asserted we are living in a very brief time period of warmth between two ice ages. By increasing the planet's temperature (not 'artificially', but naturally, as man IS part of nature) how do we know we aren't preventing the next ice age?

A few inches of coastline and an Arctic specie or two seem like a small price to pay for not having a glacier in my backyard.

And, hey...nice weather we're having, huh? 55 degrees for Wild Card Weekend. Not having to wrap myself up like Randy in 'A Christmas Story' to go to Lincoln Financial Field and watch the Eagles beat the Giants ain't half bad.

Go Birds!

man that guy above me seems to have it down and i do apprecieate the fridge on the portch, it helps a lot!!!. You too have it down, hundreds of feet below the ice in both the north and south pole, scientests have found the remains of prehistoric fern forests. Now what is a tropical forest doing in a harsh uninhabbitable frozen wasteland??? the earth has been heating a cooling itself since its existance. There isn't a single thing that we as humans can do to change its pattern. a nateral cycle of excessive heat and cold is garenteed to continue for years to come. WELL in the 1970's these same people were saying that we were headed to a new iceage. well now they are saying just the oppisite. Im not sure if you are political or not but you sound conservative like me thats great!!! HIGH FIVE!!! *SNAP* If Al Gore can get people to fear global warming, he can convence them that he has a cure for it. (after all he DID invent the internet) the uninformed and easily feared people will vote democrat and its all political. Its already starting to happen. just look at the recent elections. people are sheep and can be herded like so. Stay smart and dont believe the things in movies but instead, the things that can be proven. Keep that mind rollin' the world would be a better place if it were full of thinkers like us. U2 BKC99XX

He's doing it for publicity. Everyone loves attention.

However, Global warming is sketchy at best. Below is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing the temperature change from 1880 to 2005. Since 1880 the earth's temperature has risen less than 7/10 of 1 degree C. See for yourself here: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. The fact that people choose to ignore the facts of these charts shows that they have an agenda to convince the masses of something that really is not happening.

In fact here's a link to a secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer in the past than it is today.
http://www.msu.edu/course/isp/203/raeburn_old/fulltext/class9.pdf

And here's an article from a Harvard University study that says: "Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today."

I hope that helps...

Capnemo is an idiot, in every sense of the word.

First, his reference to NASA's picture is proof of global warming (notice the 200-year trend upwards?). The fact is, a single degree change in the average earth temperature is the difference between the ice age and now.

Second, his reference to a "secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer" is not only irrelevant, but he obviously didn't read the article. The article was written in 1999, whereas the past 6 years have been the warmest on record. Further, the article states:
"Human-induced global warming is the raising of surface temperatures due to increased atmospheric concentrations of CO2 and other greenhouse gases."
and
"It is reasonable to conclude that global warming is a real threat,..."

??? How does this article go against global warming?

Third, his reference to the Harvard study is completely ignorant of the followup. 5 editors resigned in protest from the journal it was published in, including the managing editor. Harvard professors disagree with the findings, and the author of the study, Willie Soon, is a paid consultant for the George C. Marshall Institute, a Washington non-profit organization that opposes limits on carbon dioxide emissions.

See reference here: http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=348723

Stop spreading lies, capnemo. The Earth is warming, mankind is responsible, and we need to do something about it.

He is probably just doing what his publicist told him would get a few women to go see his next
movie. He surely doesn't have any real knowledge about the subject.
Unless you count reading Gores book or similar as knowledge.

I think it would just be a HOOT if, in a few years, the climate started cooling and the planet went into another ice age.

Hey doorknob0,

I've viewed many responses regarding this topic Global Waring, so far yours sounds most logical so far. Let me say again, nature is on it's course, the hole in the ozone layer has been there since creation, all we are is part of the plan, Yes I admit we have been polluting this planet for sometime HOWEVER, why has it survived for so many centuries. I believe strongly that we have been fed so much BS by our government, so many of us believe so much crap (Who & What) do we believe in todays world??? Wake up People

Have a great day!!

that's through sunlight burning brighter, an any meteorologist will allow you to recognize. there is international warming on Mars, and obviously which couldn't be taking position because we are burning fossil gas on earth. The Dinosaurs lived in a hotter climate...became that through them burning fossil fuels??? 20 years from now at the same time as the daylight get somewhat dimmer (it is going in cycles) you'd be screaming about a sparkling Ice Age. edit I basically replied yet another question mainly designed to annoy Christians, like this one, which the asker deleted. I, as an atheist would opt for to ask for forgiveness for the shortcoming of know-how of different atheists who insist on stereotyping Christians as haters of technology and that all of them be counted on Creationism. Please recognize that i in my opinion recognize many Christians who do not (in truth i can not imagine of one) be counted on Creationism. And in case you do be counted on Creationism, I actual received't hate you for it. stay and enable stay. Asker, i imagine international warming is bul.lshit. Am I also between the "gawd" believers you hate?

I like the way you think. You've probably thought about this more writing your first sentence than ol' Leo ever has.

Forget him, the last time I felt bad about global warming, I went to my refrigerator on the front porch and left the door open all night long. Hey, no need to thank me, just doing my part!

No, if we went into an Ice Age then everybody would still get it from the liberals, i guess it's always humans fault to them.

Well its nice to finally see people with brains on one of these environment/ecology questions, I got used to seeing people who only believe what they see on TV, and what crap Al Gore spews from his dirty mouth!
