Rollers and braids? haha... I'm actually wondering why hair is naturally straight or wavy or curly.

The amount of natural curl in a hair depends on the shape of the hair follicles. Straight hair grows from a follicle that is more or less round, and the hair itself is round in cross section. Wavy hair is kidney-shaped in cross section, and the amount of wave in the hair depends on the degree of curve in the follicle. Curly hair grows from a very curved hair follicle.

I had to teach this in a high school anatomy class.

okay, well first of all, your having this problem because since your hair is getting longer, its also getting heavier. Your hair is pulling down which is causing your curls to become more like waves. There unfortunately really isn't a way to solve the problem other than having to get your hair cut. ]: My hair is about a medium length and it's naturally pretty straight although it does have some wave too. What i like to do is, after i take a shower I wait a couple minutes and then scrunch my hair. Scrunching your hair could add some more curl and make it look very pretty and it would probably look even better with your hair because it is already naturally curly. Products that i would suggest to do this is mouse, gel, spray gel, and hairspray. My products i use all come from big sexy hair. They work great and make my hair very full with lots of volume. You should try this and I'm sure you would be very happy with the curliness of your hair[: good luck & I hope i helped.

Scientists believe that hair is either curly or straight, depending upon the number of disulfide bonds between hair proteins found in the hair shaft. The idea is that the greater the number of links between sulfur atoms, the curlier the hair, conversely, the fewer the number of links, the straighter the hair.

Straight hair has a round cross section. Curly hair has an oval shaped cross section. The flatter the oval the curlier it is.
