If an earthquake kills thousands of innocent people, believers should condemn their "all-powerful" god who, supposedly being all-powerful and all-good, would certainly possess the power to save the victims but instead, for reasons the believer can never explain, chooses not to. If a child is murdered by a madman, shouldn't the believing parents condemn their god for failing to prevent the act from happening? They wouldn't hesitate to do so if a human stood by and watched it happen. Why is it immoral for humans to turn away from helping someone in need but not immoral when a god does so? Why the double standard?

The story of God is a book of primitive fiction, that got passed around like Fairy Tales. Every culture has them (but our God is the right one, right?). If someone wrote Star Wars hundreds of years ago, we'd all be worshiping R2-D2 right now.

It is only through turmoil that the human spirit learns. We had the chance to look through the eyes of the animals and just be. Somewhere along the line we became aware and asked why. The unfortunate side to Why is that any answer given is given as a snapshot of the known elements leading up to any event not the items after the event.

Humans want to be treated with respect and dignity. So we expect the "do unto others" law to apply. That is why we expect people to not stand by and just watch.

Last I checked GOD has no physical presence. So why do you expect a physical response. Think of it from an AA point of view.... It doesn't matter what you believe your higher power to be or what you name it. just as long as you have some concept of an entity that functions at a higher level. Give it all the things you think a GOOD person should be... and then try to emulate...copy those higher qualities.

The words in any religious text or self help book are symbols. These symbols show each and everyone of us a path that someone else has worked out. This is how they got from A to H ro whatever....

Well, where did you come from? Who created you? You know you are here.

Someone answered this question, from they're mother and father. All right, where did they come from, and so on, and so on. It had to begin somewhere.

Did you know, the chances of even one person getting here by accident are the same as if a car could be created for you in you're own garage by accident. Or they have been compared to them actually, the odds.

That might be if the garage door is locked and there are no parts in there! No mechanic anywhere in site! Cause' it's gotta be purely by accident now, no creator, remember?

If you cannot accept the idea of G-O-D, being the Creator? Can you try the idea of a higher power? Works for me.

And what would be such strong opposition to that idea. All other basic things seem to have a computer, Bill Gates created the p.c.! We can accept that.

That doesn't make him 100 percent totally dominant over the p.c. or it's market.

He seems like a reasonable guy, I don't think he would want to be. K?

Hi Cool Guy! That is a very practical question and I understand how anyone....in fact, everyone can think about this....

We look at the situations in the world and see horrible things and wonder why doesn't God do something.
But what we don't see is something that is completely spiritual.
As humans we feel like death is the end of everything. But God sent His Son to show us that death is not the end. There is something so much more. But then ya gotta ask yourself, well, why did God have to send His Son....why are people dying and hurting anyway? Again the answer is spiritual. There is a true war being waged between good and evil. And this is a fallen or 'sin cursed' earth or planet....or life....
God, our Creator really has made a way for us to escape both sin, and the destruction of SPIRITUAL death.
So much of this is very hard to understand because we lack faith. Faith is learning about Eternal and Spiritual truths. A lot of people will tell you it is impossible to know Truth. But the way to do it is really easy and in fact kind of funny.....all you have to do is to ask God.....ya really do not have to quite believe a whole lot of things at all....just ask God....not like you ask a friend or a teacher, but as The Holy God, give HIM a little respect and humble honesty and it will amaze and suprise you that you will find brand new miracles and mysteries every single day. It's best to read the Bible....it's kind of like an 'owners manuel' showing you how to keep your whole being running at its' best.
I hope this helped a lot....

We dont have any idea how many things He has prevented from happening. The fact that there are 30 billion people alive today means that He has prevented pleanty. I dont like when people die any more than anyone else does. But I know the only thing promised in life, is death. Whether you believe in God or not, you WILL die, there's no getting around it. But, we havent been hit by some giant meteor yet that wipes out most life on the planet, California hasnt fallen into the Pacific like it could, just think of how many things HAVENT happened, and you will see what God has prevented. He will not prevent all bad things, if He did, they we couldnt make an educated choice on whether or not to follow Him.

I believe in God, yet I don't follow a religion. God and religion are two different things. God is not attached to a religion and this religion doesn't carry a banner saying which god it belongs to. People associate God with religion, but it's not necessarily true.

You might want to ask why people follow a religion. Well I'm going to answer you this way: Religion is a human thing; religion has been in the human mind since their beginning and consequently, if correctly associated with God, becomes essential and inevitable. Humans need an institution that comforts them and gives them hope and courage. God, without a religion, works the same way, but with no obsolete dogmas and the dominance of the Church (or an organized religious institution).

You know, I have to honestly say to some of these things, "I don't know." I am a christian, but that definetly does not mean I know all the answers. I wish I did. But, I'm 16 years old, I cannot myself fully comprehend all Jesus does. Honestly, sometimes I get mad, at things like what you just described. It just doesn't make sence sometimes. But as far as I can figure it, He likes to test us Christians, and see if we can truly put our trust in Him. As for the people who don't have Christ in their hearts, and all the bad stuff happens to them, well, I'm not sure what to say. And you said, "if an earthquake kills thousands of INNOCENT people....." well, how much you wanna bet half of those people aren't so innocent. We all sin. But maybe half of those people weren't christians....and maybe they wereb't listening to God. Man, I see your point, I understand where you're coming from, but you've got to understand, God is a great God, even a jealous God, it says so in the Bible. When we become stubborn, and won't open our eyes to what is real, well, He's got to do something! It may be a earthquake, maybe a school shoot-out, but He gets our attention. Please don't shut off everything "Christian" you hear. Ponder everything, think it through, but there isn't much time left. No, I'm not a doomsday sort of person, but I will say there just isn't much time left. Well, I've enjoyed saying this, (I don't belive I've ever typed this much before) and I hope you've somewhat got something out of this. ;-)

Did men created God? Is the Earth a living organism like you and me? Are humans mortals? Than, everything is within the normal. There must be good as well as evil, otherwise, How can you tell apart? Do you believe in cause and effect? How do we abuse our living organism mother earth? Are we destroying ourselves or the Higher Power called God? Why are we going to blame someone or something outside of us? I think good and evil exist within each human being and expresses itself on and off, some have the will to control it but others are controlled by it. If we, within ourselves cannot have harmony & balance than, How do we expect peace and perfection in our world? What are our own personal contributions in order to accomplish such?

It is more ridiculous not to believe on anything!

Oh! So its okay to believe in the fictitious SANTA huh? tsk tsk.
You know i dare you to take up the challenge and read what i've attached below. But I guess you won't. You know why? People only like to ask these kinda questions but won't take the time to read up the answers.

I would recommend you get a copy of the Bible and read the entire book of Job also. The world can accept that "Santa" only gives good children gifts and not the Bad ones, but they will never understand the ways of the Almighty who makes the rain and sun shine on both the wicked and the righteous and all those in between!

It's not ridiculous.
Many people have a hard time understanding why there is suffering in the world. It's impossible for us with our narrow understanding to see how God's purposes can be accomplished through such events. But you can turn bad events into good if you let them humble you and increase your faith in God. Sometimes people make bad choices that hurt others, but God will make sure that everyone gets his/her reward.
This mortal phase of our existence has been compared to the second act of a three-act play. If you only see the second act of the play, you have a hard time seeing how it fits into the whole drama.

Huh? What's wrong with believing in God? It's our personal choice, you see, so if we choose to believe in God, who's anyone to tell us not to? A child is killed by a madman, so that's God's fault? I don't get it... Isn't that the madman's fault? No one's supposed to kill anyone; even if you don't believe in the punishment you'll get from God, it's just plainly immoral and wrong. When people still kill, that's their fault; God has nothing to do with it. He's given us the freedom to do whatever we wish to do... In the Holy Texts that most religious people follow, God warns them of the consequences of breaking laws like killing others..... So, good followers just don't treat others unfairly. As for the earthquake thing, God is testing you to see if you're gonna condemn Him for it or not. He knows whether you'll do so or not, but He wants to have proof for you as the "condemner" so that on the Judgment Day, you won't be able to deny it..... Oh, by the way... who do you think created you? What do you think your purpose in life is? What do you think the punishment of bad people and the reward for good people should be? What about those children who die? Don't you think it's unfair that they should die so young and not experience life like you and I are doing now? Well, the truth is that those kids go to heaven, regardless of their beliefs... You may not believe in heaven, but many of us do.
That's my belief, and anyone's welcome to agree or disagree!
May we all be in peace!
