I agree. Science helps but faith does too.

You ask us to answer why or why not - but these are the concerns of faith according to your question.
Faith that has a why is a faith in the birthing process. Faith is an Amen to God whether or not we understand it.
Example: Is. and Mic. saw the Assyrian sacking as God's punishment. Nahum saw the Assyrians as savages about to be cindered by God. Two different why explanations. Their faith came in their trust God controlled the event.

I saw who posted this question, so I originally came into the question with a solid 'disagree' already in my mind. However, after having read this, I'll have to change that to 'strongly disagree.' You've made a huge assumption in this statement about motivation and then leapt to the solution that satisfies your goal.

A "why" question assumes that there is a purpose. Consider that there is no "purpose" other than what you can define for your own life. That will have more meaning to you, anyway, than something handed to you through traditions of faith.
I therefore disagree. The "why" question presumes too much, and interferes too strongly with the process of answering the "how" questions.
Besides, questions of "why" are entirely human speculation. The variety of answers found in religion are testimony to the all-too-human nature of religion itself.

I disagree, because science is not just a tool. You don't have to have faith to understand how a flower grows, a chemical reaction takes place, or theorise about the formation of the universe.

Disagree. All scientific discoveries have led to the conclusion that there is no definitive all-encompassing 'why'. It is up to you to find meaning in your existence, and therefore you should not need a religion to tell you what their meaning is.
