my facial surgeon promised no swelling and he was right I had none. He said it was just because it was kept iced for 24 hours after. I went under a general anaesthetic to have all four removed and then the nurses kept the cold packs coming, I thought I'd look like a chipmunk but i missed out!!

Depends on how deep the roots are
If your wisdom teeth are impacted.

Be sure to ice well.
Have cold soft food stocked up.
like your favorite yogart and fruit and protien mix to make smoothies.

The most important thing is to know that this too shall pass, and in 1 week, it won't hurt at all.

Mine were very deep, and I had them pulled on Friday am, and by Sunday Night I was like....nothing happened!

Be sure they knock you out! At least go for the gas.
Most of us go for the total knock out.

And DO accept the pain meds, as you may chose to use them!
Ibprofin/Motrin will increasing bleeding, due to the thinning of the blood.
Do follow your Dentist's instructions.

Answer: 1-7 days average 1-3 days.
IF you are still having pain or swelling after 5 days,
Go to your Dentist!!

Remember, they are there to serve you.
It's okay to ask them as many questions as you like, it's your body!
AND it's okay to call them 1-3x's a day after your surgery for the first week.
It's not okay to be in pain, suffer or have lack of information!

Good luck, ice, rest, and cold soft food.
soft boiled eggs, smoothies, yogart, ice creme?

Mine was swollen for about a week. Just keep the ice on it! Don't worry, it sounds worse than it actually is. I scared myself to death before hand so much that it seemed like nothing!

And a few people that I know barely had any swelling. I'm guessing that it pretty much depends on the person.

Good Luck!!!!
