the problem with this is, blonde hair is very porous. (if it has been colored or especially bleached or lightened in any way). if that is so, then to just put a dye on top of it would really deposit and not wash out as easily as you think. and doing it at home may cause you to get a weird result. in the salon we actually have to do a process called a "fill" where we deposit a color to the lightened hair first to help provide a base for the permanent color we are trying to achieve. if you have nothing on your hair, and are a natural dark blonde, you can try a semi permanent color such as herbal essences etc. it will say washes out in 24 shampoos etc. it may last longer than that, but it will fade without any roots. i wouldn't try anything darker than a medium brown though. why not consider going in to salon and getting a partial foil lowlight, and get a few dark strands placed in the front/top? then live with it a few days before you try to go dark all over, since you are used to blonde. it isn't easy to go back without major damage, even for a pro.

Well, I've done this before, so, be careful, becaue mine went a nasty orange colour. Make sure you look carefully when you go to the chemist or wherever you go for your dye. What I did, was I looked at the average price for the dye I wanted on all of the brands, and picked the one that was about 3/4 expensive (if that makes sense? :) But yes, do that, if you have the kind of money, but you MUST have the right colour. I have experience with this kind of thing, so I recommend that if you're going for a dark blonde, buy a VERY VERY light brown, or and extremely dark blonde, and just leave the dye in for about and hour and a half, depending on the dye instructions. Also, be prepared for the colour to get a bit messed up :L so, if the colour goes too blonde, make sure you have a light brown to try out in about 5 days after (dying too much harms hair strands). I hope I helped you out (sometimes I take a while to get to the point) :D

Hi i just went dark....I was a blonde for over 20 years and i slowly turned darker...what i suggest is this so its not so shocking tint you hair dark but don't freak out but put alot of blonde highlights thats what i did i got so many ppl telling how much younger i look and i swear i think since i dye my hair all dark i get alot of guy looking twice,,,.But if you want to put a rinse in use wella they wash out right away the only thing with those is you put that in your hair and dont rinse it out until you wash your hair that night,,it will make you hair really heavy like you have tons of spray on but it will come out...

I had my hair light for a while, but I am a natural brunette and I am brunette now. Maybe you should consider trying a dark haired wig for a few days to see if you like that color on you, as well as the reaction of others. Good luck!

You can do what you want, but I highly suggest not dying it black. At least not right away. If you want to go darker, I'd go a couple shades at first. Try a light brown, and see where it goes from there.
