You should definitely install all the High Priority updates because those are usually patches for security flaws (although there was one last Fall that was questionable--about Genuine Windows....). Those that are Optional, you can install or not. For instance, one recent optional update dealt with a change in Australia daylight savings time; that's not an issue for us. You can read what each is for and kinda get a sense for whether you need it or not. We set our computers to update every day and then we don't have to bother, too much, with all the rigamarole.

You really only have to update every month, maybe a little less. Set your update to be scheduled after you go to bed. If you do it often, it won't take more than a minute to tell you if you even need to.

its a good idea... it kinda keeps ur computer up to date
