Those people are weak minded and childish. They probably still think that earthquakes are caused to punish us for something. They are people who mentally have not evolved.

Following religion makes us neither weak nor dumb (but we can say to be so if we want to. ie. humility, etc.). You are being unfair, giving answers, both being mean. Can you then tell me where we started from? Big Bang? Implosion? Life from the Heavens? Spontaneus Generation? Definitely not Spontaneus and not Life from the Heavens where we're born from rain. It has been disproed by science already. What other creation theories are there? And why are you being ignorant towards people with beliefs? And what are you trying to prove exactly? I believe in God and the Creation Theory where it is believed a spiritual being (God for me) made the world and how it came to be. Science cannot define EVERYTHING (even though science is my favourite and best subject besides a few others). Can science define how some things work, for example? Some people say it's false because science says so. Science sometimes says so because it cannot be proved. Stick with science all the time, and you might get fooled one time. Science has it's own mistakes sometimes, i'm sorry to say.

People have a need for God because there is a spiritual void in their hearts that can only be filled by God. God is a Spirit, eternal and invisible beyond the apprehension and comprehension of science which only can cope with temporal and physical things.
Science is not spiritual that is why people have to pursue God. Christians are not weak and dumb, God will renew (not close) their minds with the mind of Christ, filled with Godly wisdom.

There are two types of religious people...

1) those who are weak and dumb who only believes what their parents told them to.

2) those who have chosen to believe in themselves like Martin Luther or Jesus Christ.

As for christians, that word is a misnomer. There was only one christian and he died on the cross!

Contrary to what you may be thinking the intelligent design theory is growing in popularlity amonng many scientists. Which is cause for alarm among some i the science establishment, which is why they are in a panic mode and resorting to all sorts of sleazy means in order to try and crush them. There is much evidence of this. I suggest you read the book Darwin strikes back by Thomas Woodward. It follows the rise and obstacles being faced by thi movement. It demostrates that with the growing attacks this group has only been able to increase in its acceptibility by many within the scientific community. I suggest you read Jonathan Wells Icons of Evolution written in 1999.This presented a damning case against the propaganda we have been fed in schools and is the basis for what many people believe. What was written in his book has shocked readers and left them feeling betrayed by some of the scientific community. For his work he has suffered alot of vicious and false accusations.Eugenie Scott the director for the National Centre for science education highly criticized Wells but then implies the scholarship in Icons of evolution is technically correct.

Some of us understand science, think logically, and still believe in God. God has enabled us to dream and study and invent and discover everything new in the world, since humans evolved from apes to men and women. Yes, I believe in evolution too! God gave us brains for a reason and He expects us to use them. He also gave us free will to make our own mistakes and hopefully to learn from them. (And learn to use the spell check!)

I am not religious, but they have a right to believe in what or who they want just like I have a right not to believe. None of this means either they or I are weak or dumb.

Karl Marx thought so. (opiate of the masses..indeed). That was a botched plan.

I am a Christian, and am neither weak or dumb.. but I have also tapped into a spiritual realm that must be experienced to be fully understood.

All of the above.

Note how, rather than attempting to _identify_ their _own thoughts_ and articulate their thoughts in words, we are instead given convenient lists of Bible quotes. Not even interpreted so as to clarify their relevance to the current situation, just thrown.

A broader, more open-minded reading list and group of friends would be a good place to start.

Ironically the original ancient societies believed in their sciences and understanding of the world in which they lived too, but where are they now? More importantly, what happened to them?

God took care of them, as He predicted - rEvolutionized right out of the picture :)

Science and mathematics has actually proven more and more that GOD must exist. You are reading the wrong material. I am a Math and Physics major, believe me, I know, Have a great day. One day you will meet the FATHER. I hope you are on HIS "good side".
