Bone Crusher Smith....should have been Bone Hugger

Worst : "The Greatest" First of all what kind of nickname is this? The only reason so many people think he is/was the greatest is because of the psychological phenomenon that when you say a lie enough times, it becomes the truth.

The Black Rhino, White Buffalo, Brown Bomber are pretty bad too. I just think that making your nickname racial is tasteless.

I don't really like "The Golden Boy" because at some point DLH needs to grow up. How long until it changes to "The Olden Man"? Same thing goes for "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather.

"Buster" is aweful. Who wants to be a "buster"?

"Sugar" is a great nickname, but should only be used on Hall of Fame boxers. "Iron" is a good one because its so original. "The Executioner" is good too.

The all-time greatest nickname has got to be "Butterbean" Who doesn't love the name "Butterbean"? That name is so good that virtually nobody knows that his real name is Eric Esch.

WORST: Calvin "The Boxing Banker" Brock... What do banking and boxing have to do with each other???

Lennox "The Lion" Lewis is also bad, sounds like a gay porn name...

BEST: "The Hands of Stone" Roberto Duran; "Iron" Mike Tyson; Oscar "The Golden Boy" De La Hoya, especially fitting now that hes worth 100's of millions...

Actually Iron Mike Tyson was a good nickname in 1990 but now it refers to the iron around his wrists. People who say this guy is great are not looking at the whole career.

back in the day, the nicknames were far more colorful: manassa mauler, brockton blockbuster, etc....but i gotta say the most awkward i've heard was the ambling alp, it rolls off the tongue well, i grant you, but what the heck does that mean anyways?

my favorite nicknames, if not always the fighter they're associated with, are 'the hitman', 'the easton assasin', "the motor city cobra". ....i apparently have issues. gotta love "iron mike"("mighty mike" just never conjured up the same sense of danger to me, personally). i also love "the camden buzzsaw" and "the raging bull". "boom-boom" is not bad, but my all-time favorites are: "the dark destroyer" and "bomani"(which i adopted myself)!

Some of the best are/were: Evander "The Real Deal' Holyfield, it fits his style and it rhymes! "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler, he was truly a marvelous fighter. "Smokin" Joe Frazier, that was his style, smokin! Thomas "Hitman" Hearns, he surely could bang! Some of the worst are/were: Oliver "The Atomic Bull" McCall, Lennox "The Lion" Lewis, Zab "Super" Judah, Antonio "The Magic Man" Tarver just to name a few!
