hehe -- lots of these kinds of fables in the bible.
God is suprised when he finds out adam & eve have eaten the forbidden fruit -- and adam has to tell him that eve did it first (like he doesn't know).
Later on, he has to send "angels" to Sodom & Gomorrah to find out if the people are being bad, 'cause apparently he can't see if they are or not from heaven.
Another one -- Moses has to tell him that the people have been bad, and that they made idols out of gold...apparently he wasn't paying attention :) There are a lot more...

Some all-knowing all-seeing god you people have there -- not very good at his job :(

God was in the heart of adam and eve. But that story is not why we are all sinners as the mainstreem Christians want us all to believe. if we are a little conscious we can hear a little voice telling us don' do that. That is not good or that will cause you pain or another pain. We don't listen due to lust. If we become more conscious the voice gets louder and we become more wiling to take the good advice of God who is situatied in the core of our own heart. The quickest way to become fully conscious is to chant the Maha Mantra -go to krishnaculture. for details Read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. aslo for Christian perspective go to gospelofthenazirenes. The original New Testament before King Constantine misconstrued so many things.

I believe that he knew that was going to happen the whole time but that was the point of letting Adam and Eve be on earth, to have free will to choose right or wrong. God is not going to force anyone to do anything and that still applies to us today. He didn't make Eve choose to eat from the tree. God simply wants us to choose to do the right thing but unfortunately we often choose to do the wrong thing and it has escalated to the wars and famines we have today.

AGAIN. . . it was a challenge about free will. Eve failed. God could NOT just step in and save her rear, because if he did, then WHY GIVE HER FREE WILL? She would either send Satan packing or become his servant, she choose to become his servant. 'nuff said.

Same with Christ Jesus who was perfect. He could ONLY tempt Jesus so far, then no more. God does have a set limit and Satan hadn't reached his limit with Eve. She fell FAST.

Satan's function is to act as adversary; challenger, to test the mettle of a person's soul. God allows Satan a certain latitude in man's lives so that his true worth and value can be revealed. Adversity always brings out one's true character.

Jehovah God did not create robots. He gave the first human pair the gift of free will - to chose whether or not they wanted to serve God.The same with us today. We have all been given the same gift.As with Adam and Eve our future is determined by the choices we make.
God wants people to serve Him out of love.
Adam and Eve knew right from wrong. The choice was theirs

How can God give man free will if He interupts every chance at a choice and says "NO NO NO NO" and takes it away? I know most atheists hate the idea that most Christians believe in Free Will... but we do... and thats the answer simply put.

Its hooey of course. God creates Adam and Eve, gives them no wisdom or experience to make informed decisions, then kicks them out of paradise when they make a bad decision!! Its probably the dumbest fable in a book replete with absurdities. THERE IS NO FREE WILL WITHOUT WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE TO BASE IT ON!!

Well it is just a life story, not history, but I can still answer your question within the context of the story: free will.

Did you not see that movie Bruce Almighty?

My favorite lines are:
Bruce: How do you make someone love you without messing with free will?
God: Welcome to my world!

You, gracious one, wish to define the answer you receive. How then can you define the answer others wish to offer?

God was there watching how this free will gig was likely to play out. Satan means Accuser. Was Satan's accusation about free will being too dangerous true?
