I can't answer for dogs, but I can tell you about something that happened to me while working at a nursing home. I was sitting at the bedside of a dying lady, because she had no family, and I didn't want her to die alone. I could tell she was taking her last breaths, so I stood up and leaned over her to listen for her heartbeat. Before I could get the stethoscope to her chest, I actually felt her spirit passing through my body. It's hard to describe, but it was a tingly feeling, and I knew that she was gone. Before that I had no belief in an afterlife, but that feeling was so strange and strong, that I did believe after that.

Dogs can see evil spirits.
That's why islam's muhammad sent the dog away when it howled at allah at the door.
Today, muslims deem dogs as UNCLEAN because of the incident. Most muslims don't even know this. But you can check it out yourself.

what? dogs howl at death? i have never heard that. i know dogs howled at the moon, at the neighbor dog, at a loud car, at bad music and when they were in heat and generally when they felt like howling. i never knew they howled at someones death.
