I do not have much experience with Belgian Shepherds, but I do have a lot of experience with Belgian Malinois (they are like a short haired fawn version of the Belgian Shepherd). I would defiantly watch you daughter very close when the dog is around, especially when the puppy is 6 -18 months old. They are a very mouthy breed (they really use there mouths) and the puppy could bite and hurt her on accident. They also are pretty rambunctious and high energy, so it may knock your daughter down. They usually get to about 65 lbs, so they are a large breed, and they are highly muscular. Not all of them act this way, but the majority of the ones that I have been around have been this way. My Malinois now is extremely mellow and great with kids, but I still do not trust him completely and will only allow children to pet him when I am around.

they can be excellent family dogs, if properly socialized, and trained and treated well. Yes, they get quite large, but NO dog, whether small or giant should be left unsupervised with small children.

Yes, they make good family dogs provided they are well trained and exercised.

They're very protective. And they require a lot of grooming. I hope you like dog hair on all your furniture and clothes.

if it is around children and different people while it's growing up, it should be fine.
