i mechanic for a living,,and if you can find a good Toyota corolla one that is low mileage ,,those things seem to last forever,,i do a lot of work, and most of the ones i get just need maintenance on them,,no major problems at all,and another good one is the Nissan sentra,,there just like the Toyota's,,they just keep on running forever seems like,i own a Nissan and have owned a few Toyota,s before ,,you,ll get your moneys worth from either one of those vehicles ,and then some, you might want to go look at a few ,and drive them,,you,ll be surprised at the mileage also,,they do really good,,there worth buying,,good luck hope this help,s.

Honda Civic or Accord, all the way! Cheap to maintain, great mileage, reliable as all get out, and very inexpensive if you need a new car ever two years. Plus, there are all sorts of options for comfort. Just make sure you get a good alarm system on it, b/c the Hondas are the most frequently stolen for parts.
